Jumpcut creates cinematic online courses on topics that you wish you learned in college (How to 10x Your Productivity, How to Start a Business from Scratch, Social Media Marketing).

We’re looking for a creative Senior Writer to thoroughly research topics like these and to turn them into scripts for 1-2 hour entertaining and informational courses for our platform. Each of our courses will incorporate elements of storytelling, excerpts from interviews, and scientific research in order to teach the viewer in the most entertaining way possible. Our motto is: no boring lectures allowed.

Not only will your courses immediately be seen by thousands of paying customers, your work will also help craft the long-term vision for Jumpcut as an educational platform.

The Alibi by Serial (you can watch ~15 minutes to get the gist of the style). WHY WE LOVE IT: Incredible storytelling (that’s what made this podcast a national sensation), mixing between interviews + storytelling, and the sound mixing.

WHY WE LOVE IT: Level of detail/thoroughness of information, and the fact that it’s entirely motion graphics/internet b-roll (meaning there’s no need to film!), yet still feels cinematic because of the style, language, and quality of the graphics.
Rihanna’s ‘Work’ Is Not Tropical House by Nerdwriter. WHY WE LOVE IT: Level of detail/thoroughness of information, conversational language, and the fact that it’s entirely motion graphics/internet b-roll (no need to film!)
Chef’s Table by Netflix (full episodes are on Netflix). WHY WE LOVE IT: overwhelmingly “badass” vibe of the show -- due equally in part to the music, quality of footage, and incorporation of interviews. Note: there is zero instruction in Chef’s Table. To make this a Jumpcut course, there would need to be instruction and a clear ROI for the user (i.e. “by the end of this course, I’m going to be able to make 3 meals from a Michelin starred restaurant”).

With your skillset, the Jumpcut team will be ready to implement and improve amazing applications to further education and community. We expect you to own a large part of the product development lifecycle, including: collecting requirements, researching, creating wireframes, and ultimately producing a beautiful design. You must be obsessed with iterating on your creations. People easily satisfied need not apply.

Responsibilities

Design the UI/UX of Jumpcut across web and mobile
Define and formalize our company’s design process from idea generation to Photoshop deliverables and wireframe
Continuously build upon our company’s style guide and other resources such as icon packs

What We're Looking For

A great culture fit
BS/BA in Arts, Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Computer Science or a relevant degree
4 years of professional experience in designing web apps and mobile apps
Proficient with HTML/CSS as well as popular CSS frameworks such as Bootstrap, Foundation etc.
Adept at prototyping with pencil and paper
Continually watching design trends and best practices

Jumpcut is currently looking for a Motion Graphics Artist to join our growing team.

Job Responsibilities

This role requires producing creative, high-quality art assets and primarily motion graphics for our courses.
Create compositions on motion graphics content and assets such as lower thirds and title cards.
Create After Effects templates for editors to use on their projects
Update After Effects projects and other assets received from external sources
Organize, archive projects, and other duties, as assigned

What We're Looking For

Expert level proficiency with Adobe Suite programs; After Effects, Illustrator, Photoshop, AE Plugins and other relevant motion design programs. Ability to edit in Premiere Pro a plus
Excels at motion tracking, color, kinetic typography, composition and imagery. Character animation and 3D animation experience a plus
An extreme passion for motion graphics and editing, with a good eye for composition, framing, and timing
Strong technical and troubleshooting skills with a high level of attention to detail
Good listener and able to take constructive criticism
Ability to work under tight deadlines and prioritize deadlines
Resourcefulness and persistence in producing the best work you can
Energy, a sense of humor and an open, curious mind (yes, these things really do matter)
Communication skills that leave no room for questions or angst – you’re straightforward, candid and above all thoughtful and kind
Excels at the design aesthetics of the motion graphics as seen in the following videos:

2-4 years of experience and/or Bachelor’s degree or higher in fine arts, graphic design, or digital media design
