Build a better future. We’ll invest in yours.
Moto Mods™ snap onto any Moto Z phone, transforming it into a device that does things other phones can’t. And, with our Moto Mods Development Kit, you can make your own Moto Mod. Aspiring startup? Established dev powerhouse? It doesn’t matter. We’re thrilled to provide the tools to help you redefine what a smartphone can do.
Lenovo Capital has set aside up to $1,000,000 to help bring the best Moto Mod ideas to market. Enter our Transform the Smartphone challenge and share your best Moto Mods idea for a chance to win an MDK and a Moto Z (a $1,000 value) to get started on your prototype. Finalists will be selected by our judging panel of industry leaders. Winners will receive a trip to Chicago to meet with our Moto Mods executive development team, where they’ll discuss how to bring their idea to life.

Make anything.
Moto Z phones are designed to be compatible with any Moto Mod you create and certify through Motorola. The possibilities are practically limitless, from infrared cameras, e-ink displays, game controllers and printers to metal detectors, inventory tag readers, blood pressure monitors and even air pollution sensors.

Get started
To get started, you'll need to purchase any Moto Z phone and a Moto Mod Development Kit. The kit, which snaps onto the back of your Moto Z, has been designed to make it easy for you to add the custom electronics and software that support your Moto Mod concept.
If you follow our developer guidelines, you can be confident that your Moto Mod will also work with any Moto Z device going forward.
