In Canada we check off a box on our income tax return to register to vote (and even if you don’t pay taxes you fill out return to get government prescription drug plan and your tax refunds).
Also have same day registration (it takes a couple of minutes). Never a line up either.

I know we’re so far from an actual democracy that this has become normalized but it’s still wild to me that states will not allow eligible citizens to vote just because they didn’t register in time for an arbitrary deadline that has no legitimate purpose whatsoever.
