Galaxy Note 7 details, specs, pricing and everything you need to know.
Recall info: Samsung has issued a worldwide recall of the Note 7 due to concerns over faulty battery cells causing explosions. We have everything you need to know about it right here.
Unlike the last few Samsung launches we don't have two versions of the phone — there's a single Note 7 version, and it's a phone that integrates a ton of what we've already seen in the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge.
To get up to speed with everything surrounding the Galaxy Note 7, we have you covered right here.
The Galaxy Note 7
The Galaxy Note 7 is very clearly another complementary piece to sit above the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge, and for that reason it has a lot in common with those phones. The internal specs are nearly identical, and that means it has also inherited the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge's waterproofing and great cameras as well. With a dual-curved screen, the Note 7 also has the "Edge UX" software found on the Galaxy S7 edge.
But this is still a Note in the end, bringing with it some new features and a freshly refined design. More internal storage, an improved S Pen, a fresh look in the software and an oft-rumored iris scanner all arrive on the Note 7 to differentiate it as well.

Galaxy Note 7 features
Breaking down some of the individual pieces of the Note 7, there are a few things that stand out. This is the first waterproof Galaxy Note, it's the first phone ever with Gorilla Glass 5 and also the first Galaxy phone with a USB-C port. The iris scanner isn't quite as useful as the fingerprint sensor at this point, but offers interesting features within the Note 7's system and has potential for the future.

Galaxy Note 7 availability
The Galaxy Note 7 lands first in the United States, with pre-orders already under way and stores stocking the phones for sale on August 19 — pricing is set around $850, varying a bit depending on which carrier you choose. In Europe, you can now pre-order, with a proper launch day coming on September 2. In Canada, many carriers have put the phone up for pre-order, with availability on the same day as the U.S. — August 19.

Should you upgrade?
The big question on everyone's mind is whether it's worth upgrading from your current phone to the Galaxy Note 7. We're exploring all of the possibilities, of course starting with a focus on upgrades from other recent Galaxy phones.
While this isn't going to be a likely upgrade from the Galaxy S7 or S7 edge, there's a real conversation to be had about jumping from the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 edge+, which still have a lot of resale value. Compared to the Note 4, this is a really great upgrade path if you're a fan of the big Note phones and their features but are getting a little tired of your Note 4 after two years.

Galaxy Note 7 accessories
With the move to a USB-C in the Galaxy Note 7 it necessitated a refresh of Samsung's Gear VR headset, and so we have a new model to take a look at. And although the Gear 360 has already been announced, Samsung is finally willing to give it a final price and set of retailers where you can buy it.

Nothing spectacular
Posted via the Android Central App
Is any phone ever going to be spectacular? Unless you have a phone that can emit holograms, I fear nothing will vow us since the early days of the smartphone era.
Yes, the note 4 was spectacular, still is.....btw, u german?
Posted via the Android Central App
Nothing will "vow" us. Are you German
Posted via the Android Central App
The Note 4 isn't spectacular. Maybe it was a great phone when it was released relative to what was out at the time but to call it spectacular is just fanboy opinion. But thanks.
To call the Note 4 spectacular seems apt to me. This was the first Note phone in the series that had a premium feel, with the brushed metal sides. The Note 7 and the Note 4 both have QHD screens at 2,560x1,440 resolution. And for us fan boys having an IR blaster (something I still use) and a removable battery is pretty sweet. It was a powerful phone at the time, especially before Kit Kat was replaced. Anyway, I'm either getting the Note 7 or the LG V20, I'm not raging against the machine. But the Note 4 was a pretty spectacular phone.
My s7e has identical specs save a smaller screen with a bigger battery than note 7......FAIL! I'LL stick with my s7e thanks
Screen you can use underwater, USB C, a 0.2 inch larger display in virtually the same body (its slightly wider at 73.8 vs 72.6mm), and iris scanner are not fails. They may not be enough to tempt you to upgrade (i highly doubt Samsung targets six-month upgraders), but that doesnt make those achievements any less impressive.
Also, the battery is smaller as it uses Li-Po, which has a smaller energy density but ages less as well. Basically a choice of having better battery now and worse battery later, or having lesser battery now and around the same battery later in the device's life.
Why wouldn't you stay with your not even 5 month old phone? What kind of leap were you expecting in not even half a year? Do you really think that they're trying to win over s7 edge owners here? Get real. All the Galaxy phones with 7 in the same are part of the same generation, just offering slightly different features and emphasis. The Note 7 is for people who want the larger screen and s-pen.
Why is it hard for people to realize that Samsung isn't targeting people who just bought a phone 4 months ago with this?

Ha ha ha ha ha. You proudly say your phone is the same phone and then shout that it's a fail. Which would make your phone more of a fail since it has no s pen, no iris scanner, etc..
Posted via the Android Central App
Vince, you speak like a 15 year old with your dumb "Fail" comment. By all means, stick to your S7E. No one really cares what you do.
From my perspective this smarthphone is way above many other ones. If you were expecting that this smartphone to conquer the planet Mars, well... It can't conquer the planet Mars, yet, but lets just wait and see how people responde to it. Lets wait and see how well does it sell.
At a first impresion I love this smartphone even before smartphone appears selling on market. But for the moment its price is too high for me. I would love to have one of my own, and AndroidCentral blessed us with a Note 7 giveaway contest so, I say this is a good thing. We have a chance (maybe less than one in a trillion, but still a chance) to win it.
Will they supply monthly security patches? To me that is the one feature that any Android phone I buy must have.
Yes.
The S7 has received security patches in a timely manner.
Well, minus the unlocked version, which hasn't caught up yet, strangely.
Posted via the Android Central App
Samsung has done a pretty good job keeping the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge up to date (at least in most areas), I would think that that would carry over to the Note 7.
What's the deal with the AOD? Will I get an update for my S7?
Presumably we'll see lots of these software features arrive in a future update on the GS7 and S7 edge ... but they're not announcing anything, of course. I would think they'd just arrive with Nougat.
isn't this page supposed to have the gleam.io international giveaway? where is it?
I wanted to know about the audio DAC that is present and it is not discussed. Can it handle DSD or only PCM? Can it go up to 384khz?
It probably wasn't discussed because...it's just the off the shelf 820 one. i.e. not good at all. Get an Axon 7 if you want super audio quality.
One version? Curved screen? As soon as I saw that it stopped any interest I had. And if that didn't stop it the small battery would have. You can easily put at least 4000. If not bigger. Many other phones do that. Next please.......
I second that thought.
Explain how it could have easily put more in since your an expert.
I agree that it shouldn't be less, but you also have e the pen compartment to deal with.
Posted via the Android Central App
Um by making it a mm thicker? It doesn't need to be a super slim phone. Make it a bit thicker, and boom, a bigger battery will fit! Imaging that!
You'd soil your pants if you even had the opportunity to apply to work at Samsung as an engineer. Don't act like you have all the secrets and they're all morons. I'm sure they took other things into consideration that you know nothing about.
Posted via the Android Central App
The screen isn't nearly as curved as the Galaxy S7 edge's screen is. This design makes a lot more sense.
Also, I don't think you're giving Samsung's engineers and designers enough credit when you say things like they could "easily" make the battery 4000 mAh.
No, no no Andrew. This is the internet, where it's possible to put an 8,000 mAh battery into a device as thin as a credit card.
Duh, we're all internet engineers who will never be satisfied. Any manufacturer's best is never good enough.
The armchair experts of the Internets.
So why haven't you bought "many other phones"? Are you an idiot? Do you just like to say "other phones are better than this" because you get off on it? So what if you don't like curved screens. There's plenty of loser phones with flat screens you could go with like an LG G5 or HTC10.
"There's plenty of loser phones with flat screens" Oh come on, you can't really that big a fool..... I've heard stupid crap in here but this comment of yours is absolutely idiotic, even for a 12 year old, and I'm guessing you're 13. But really that is just moronic, considering the similarity which exists in all premium handsets. Yes, manufacturers attempt to add exclusive features, but the reality is that the actual useful nature of these "exclusivities" really amounts to features that really don't add to the primary useful experience of the Smart Phone. You, seem to equate owning an S7, 7edge or Note 7 with being "cool" or special, when in fact you may have a nice handset, but you are the same moron that owned flip phone a few years ago. Your phone is hardly a reflection of "who" or "what" you are although the drivel you post is a good indication of the level of thinking.
Smaller battery size than the S7 edge???? What the #/÷%?
Posted via the Android Central App
2.7% smaller battery in exchange for an S Pen. I think you'll survive.
Lol
Posted via the Android Central App
The Note 5 also had a smaller battery then the Note 4 and I don't know about others but I definitely had better battery life with my Note 5.

Bell Mobility in Canada is accepting pre-orders (and throwing in a Gear 2 to boot).
So ... free Gear Fit2 or 256GB microSD card?
Me going for the 256GB microSD card!
I'd just get the Fit, sell it and buy a card on amazon and pocket the extra cash.
You know the Samsung SD card is worth more than the Fit2, right?
For 3 weeks. SD cards plummet in value very very quickly
Posted via the Android Central App
No, the SD Card Samsung is giving is a UHS-I [3] Card. These are the most expensive models with Write Speeds up to 95 MB/s.
You can already get much cheaper UHS-I [1] cards from Samsung, but the write speeds are 1/4th the speed.
If you do a lot of high FPS 1080p recording, or 4K, you want the write speeds. If you take a lot of RAW (DNG) photographs and want to save them to the SD Card, you want the write speeds. These cards are almost 4x faster than the much cheaper cards you'll see on sale.
The SD Card costs ~$70 more than the Fit. I doubt those cards will plummet from ~$249 to ~$179 in 3 weeks. This isn't going to happen.
Just an FYI, I have the SanDisk Extreme PRO microSDXC UHS-II Card delivers transfer speeds of up to 275MB/s.
I know it's over kill but it works flawlessly with my current S7 Edge.
It does max out at 128 GB.
The Samsung one maybe, but you can buy cards with similar storage sizes for much cheaper.
They will also be incredibly slow compared to the Samsung card. Burst Photography, DNG Capture, 4K Video, copying huge files onto your device, etc. all benefit from the faster speeds.
The point of getting the card from Samsung is that you get the fastest SD Card available in the highest supported capacity, which means you put it in on day one and (or whenever it arrives) and never have to worry about upgrading it again.
If you get a slower card, you can possibly have an issue where your usage changes and you need the faster speeds for a better experience on the device, which means you will erode those savings down considerably.
If they were giving away a GEAR Smartwatch (not a simple fitness tracker), there would be a lot more logic in taking that over the SD Card (which can be reused in other devices if you ever replace the Note 7) - your DSLR or other digital camera/camcorder, PC/Laptop, etc.
Um, yah. That looks like a VERY nice phone. And just when I was enjoying having no phone payment on my AT&T Next plan. Sigh. Well I think I'll wait until my raise in October to offset adding one back. That way I can see what the V20 has in store.
No pen, no waterproof, better audio quality.
Horrible LG skin......

Samsung is keeping the petal to the metal in this release..the other mfg can do latest q chip or qHD screen but none are going the extra mile with wireless charging , sd card and water resistance .
Samsung Pay is the unobtainium that no other have .. and stock 64GB with Micro SD is just another swipe at what the fruit phone will never do ..or only do 2 years after Sammy...Like 4 inch screen or bigger, NFC and fingerprint scanner .. the fruit mfg can only polish what has fallen off the tree a while ago before placing in there cart.
Kenny
pedal
Absolutely in agreement with you! Cute, I never heard "fruit phone" applied to the Apple!
I will take 128GB of fast PCIe storage over 64GB with a far slower SD Card slot any day. The cost of the fastest 256GB SD Card on the market right now (that samsung manufactures) is ~$249.
It's cheaper to just buy the (rumored?) 256GB iPhone Pro than a Note + that SD Card. This is why Samsung is giving them away. To try to boost sales and eliminate that economic reality for the early adopters to make the phone more attractive to them.
After reading all about the Note 7, signing up for email, and following a link back to this page, I'm not finding the widget for the contest to win a Note 7. What am I missing?
Half awesome, half lame. Mainly the curved screen and tiny battery are holding me back. Wanted a flat screen and 4500 to 5000 mAh. Will stick with my Note 4 for now and cross my fingers that next year's Galaxy Note 8 will finally get it right.
LOL 4500 to 5000 mAh, at least have reasonable expectations. I am going to look into your future, you will be disappointed next year too. Also it has a bigger battery than your N4.
Tiny battery? Do you people live in a cave without electricity? I mean, I love a huge battery - who doesn't? If it's that big a deal, just get the backpack-y attachment that's waterproof and stare at your SOT all day in admiration I guess.
I too will look into your future and you will still be using your Note 4 talking about how it's still better than all new phones. The rest of us will still be laughing at your foolish stubbornness.
Hey I wondering what do I get if I preorder it this note 7 do I get it VR for free like what they did with it galaxy edge 7
Fit2 or SD card.
Rogers give you sd card and gear fit or the speaker
Great phone!
It is a great phone!
Yawn. The first rumors for this device promised 8 GB of RAM (later 6 GB), a Superbook style dock http://www.androidcentral.com/superbook-will-use-your-android-phone-powe... as well as Akyumen Holophone type Windows 10/Android dual boot ability for power/productivity users (in addition to the laptop dock) http://www.androidauthority.com/akyumen-holophone-phablet-android-window...
And after all those months of awesome rumors, what do we get? Basically the Galaxy Note 4 with a better SOC and an iris scanner. Oh, and USB Type C, which the Note 5 could and should have had as other (cheaper) phones released earlier had it, and Gorilla Glass 5 (be still my heart), And the iris scanner has little to do with Samsung ... support for it is built into the SOC. http://www.cnet.com/news/qualcomm-snapdragon-sense-id-3d-fingerprint-sca...
ZTE launched a smartphone with an iris scanner last year, and several Windows phones have them. They didn't even make the screen bigger even though the bezels getting smaller should have allowed it. So you have LG and Motorola making Project Ara phones, Lenovo making a project Tango phone and Samsung comes with nearly the exact same phone 3 years running? When the Galaxy Note is supposed to be the bleeding edge device? No wonder Samsung didn't release a Galaxy S7 Edge Plus this year. This is the Galaxy S7 Edge Plus minus the stylus! And this device isn't even launching with Nougat - and some folks won't get it until like December - and even if it does big deal, it doesn't have any new hardware to support Nougat features like Daydream anyway. You are going to have to wait on the Galaxy S8 for that. MAYBE the Galaxy S8 will have 6 GB of RAM - like Meizu, LeCo, OnePlus and even Vivo, Asus and ZTE phones already have - too?
Yet folks are going to fall over themselves and call this iterative device (though it is not really even iterative ... in what ways that actually matter is this anything more than the Galaxy S7 Edge with a bigger screen and stylus) as THE BEST PHONE EVER. This thing is going to cost $850 or more and it really is little different from the last 3 phones Samsung released. Just 64 bit instead of 32 bit like the Note 4 and Snapdragon (and the 820, not the rumored 823 or even the 821 that will be in a Nexus device that will cost half as much) instead of Exynos last year.
In a way, I am glad. Because I was torn between getting the Note 7 and keeping my Nexus 6 until next year since it is going to get one last major update after all. Well, decision made. Wait till next year to see if there is a flagship phone that is bigger than the 5.7' that everyone has been stuck on for years now even though bezels are much smaller than they were, and has some actual compelling new features in it (or failing that at least more RAM).
It is amazing. Other OEMs are the ones making phones with the latest and more compelling features, yet we all pretend as if Samsung still has the best tech.
But,how do you really feel?lol
Posted via the Android Central App
So you would skip the Note 7 and wait for S8? I have a note 3 and was hoping to update this go around, but I'm not too sure now. I don't think I would get the new nexus when it comes out either...
Have you tried rooting your Note 3 and upgrading the OS to Marshmallow (resurrection remix)? I did it with mine and added a 128GB microSD card, and it became an amazing phone again! It was so awesome that you might even forget about wanting to get a new phone altogether. ;-)
One plus didn't do great with the 6gigs! Fell flat to the s7e.
Posted via the Android Central App on my GS7 edge
And yet, you still haven't bought one of those phones with the latest and more compelling features. So your long "analysis" rant rings hollow. So please do go ahead and stay with your old and outdated Nexus 6. It's a great phone with less than stellar camera, large screen that's near impossible to see outside, plasticky body, slower processor, and no added software features. Yay, you get Nougat sooner than everyone else. But that's a claim to fame that has nothing to do with a comparative user experience.
I agree. Not a whole lot has really changed. I was also disappointed because I too had been following the rumors. Now, I hear that China is getting 6GB RAM and 128GB storage with their 'exclusive' devices, I might have to boycott Samsung altogether because of that move. I think they're holding out on us. Plus, they throw in that stupid non-removable battery and at the same time crank up the price to over $1000 CAD. I'm going to have to take a mortgage out on my house to be able to afford the payments on my freakin' phone!
My name is Tyleah and I have the worst phone my parents could have gave me. A blu dash jr that just shut off today. SO here I am hoping to win a free glaxy note 7. I hope my luck hasn't run out.
No one cares
Posted via the Android Central App
I wish you luck in winning. :-)
Worst note release ever (my opinion, please don't flame me) .... I'm sure it would suit some, but I'm not upgrading from my note 5 for this. It is basically a s7 edge with a slightly larger screen, smaller battery and a s-pen. Hmm.... All other note releases were a significant upgrade over the s series, this, not so much, not even a little. Having said that, still think Samsung phones are the best, just not worth it to ME to upgrade to this one. Very underwhelmed by this release.
Hi @sebaird before taking decision not to upgrade please check out this Infographic Comparison between Galaxy Note5 and Galaxy Note7 http://attractivereview.com/2016/08/03/galaxy-note5-vs-galaxy-note7/ this Infographic Comparison is officially released by Samsung Not to be outdone by third-party sites.
It's pretty sad when you use "OS Version" as a selling point for a device... This is like Apple saying you should upgrade to the iPhone 7 because it has iOS 10.
The Note 5 has no SD card slot... it sucks!
If you don't want to get flamed for a dumb comment, why even post it? No one cares that you want to stick with your Note5. The Note5 is an excellent phone and isn't in any way outmoded by the Note 7. As a matter of fact, its not even a requisite for people to upgrade. Samsung is definitely trying to hone their phone to appeal to the masses. I do believe people will like the refined edge screen, waterproofing, SD card support, advanced S-Pen functions,
Listen, it's expensive, but having the S7 Edge, probably the best out there now, and Note 7 is so much better. Going from 32GB to 64GB was the clincher. Plus less curve is better.
Uhg, I'll end up keeping the note 4 longer than I like to keep presidents...
Love how people keep saying it's "just" an S7 Edge with a pen.
Yes, it's "just" the best and most popular phone of the year, with the added benefit of S-Pen software.
How horrific!!!

someone got the dates wrong, I am in UK and received a pre order form yesterday (2/08/2016) for the Note 7 not 13/08/2016 as stated above.
I love Samsung note series it's amazing n too lovely I have been using all note series and now I want to use note 7 I'm dam waiting for it I luv u note 7

Where did the Gleam contest to win a Galaxy Note 7 go? I had it bookmarked, but now I'm only seeing the launch day article.
wow I wanna get it
A relief that this one would be released in Europe. Seems people are into stylus' afterall, eh?
Where are the $2 Spigen codes for Amazon? Lol that's what we need to know!
Maaaan, $850 Samsung? That's because they put that curved screen on it! Which adds $100 to the price. This is $100 more than I'm willing to pay for a phone, even if I can afford it, smh, ridiculous. Plus tax, that's almost $1000. I need some leaks on the pricing on the LG V20
Just buy a Moto Z Force. Or an HTC-10, or LG-G5. Better yet, buy an S7 or go to Ebay and buy a used phone. My point is, quit complaining about one phone's price when you can just buy a lesser phone for lesser dollars.
Great phone. The deals are a bit underwhelming, though.
I NEED AN ANDROID PHONE! I can't play anything on my lumia 640 and I'm broke af
Axon 7 my friend. Not the greatest support and I can't comment if it will get software updates as quickly, but with the same processors and at $399. It's a great deal.

You are not a power user because you need more space on the phone lol. Power users would be people who root or load custom Roms. That said Samsung has had some of the best hardware on the market for awhile. The problem with them is they are becoming APPLE and locking it down like Fort Knox...no pun intended. While I would love the phone, I cannot deal with the Knox garbage that they put on it and the fact that the Bootloader will no doubt stay locked, I'm out. My Nexus 6 is still going strong due to the custom roms and is much faster and more stable than any stock variant. I for one will be looking very closely at the phones coming from alternate companies that play nice with the bootloader.
Your definition of power user is arbitrary and meaningless, just so you know.
For me to consider a new "flagship" device, given what they go for nowadays, I at least expect 4000mAh battery, 6GB RAM, 128GB storage (64 is do-able, but not ideal), and a processor that would never skip a beat on that hardware.
I also should have a removable battery, and a microSD slot.
And that's the minimum ... especially near a grand.
The bells & whistles should definitely be there; both in software and in hardware. Yes, I expect it to work (with my fingers, not a stylus only) under water. After all, its predecessor (S7 Edge) can. It would be great if it had dual SIM cards. It would be even better if it worked across different networks as a true Universal phone (GSM & CDMA).
As it stands, I'm not impressed with the Note 7. It's simply a new(er) device. Nothing worthy of an upgrade ... not from my Note 3. Not yet. If I'm shelling out that kind of cash, I simply expected more. A lot more.
If that's what you're waiting for, see you in 2017 lol

Not a worthy upgrade from a Note 3 lol. I now have heard it all
Posted via the AT&T Note 5
The Note 3 is a SD800 Phone with 3GB RAM and a 1080p screen, which is more than good enough at that size. The S Pen hasn't really increased in usefulness to a great extent since the Note 3, which is the version that gave us Air Command and refined the Multi-Window user experience. It also has a 3200 mAh removable battery (so you can buy a new, fresh one and not have to worry about decreasing capacity/wear), 32GB Storage standard, and an SD Card Slot.
Unless you're a camera freak or stress over design/aesthetics, there is not much incentive to move off of that phone, even now.
Keeping a Note 3 at this point isn't much different than keeping a Galaxy S5, to be frank, which is not that "unusual" to me. The Note 3 was a very significant hardware upgrade over the S4.
I think this is part of the reason why Samsung is moving away from spec'ing the Note line up. They were too future proof and that causes people to keep them longer than Samsung would like. They'd generally like you to upgrade every two years or so (different people upgrade at different cycles, which evens things out a bit), but a lot of people have been keeping these note phones for 2.5-3 years because they were basically released at the end of the current smartphone generation with "next generation" specs.
I'm disappointed that the stylus still seems like a forgettable accessory, but this is an issue that all mobile platforms that use them have (iPad Pro, Galaxy Note, and other Android Tablets that support them). Windows seems to be the only platform that does it justice, and only because of how it can be used in full feature pro apps on that platform (Photoshop, Illustrator, CorelDraw, Painter, etc.).
It seems like the last huge jump in usefulness that S Pen received was with the Galaxy Note 3).
At this point, you're upgrading mostly for software, and for the camera or biometric features. If you don't really care for those, then I can totally see someone sticking with the Note 3 for another year.
If they're waiting for a removable battery see them two years ago, everyone is moving away from them. I want the removable battery squad to put their money where their mouths are and buy old flip phones when LG finally caves.
Maybe you should try the Nexus p?..I been told it's the PERFECT phone? Not!

I like the specs you want, but, in fact, it's a serious upgrade from the Note 3.
Actually, I would have to agree with you on that one. You are right considering the increase in price. I am taking into consideration the non-removable battery because that's a biggie to me. What happens when/if your device freezes and you are unable to power it off? What do you usually do? I would usually remove my battery and do a hard reset. Will this be possible? We all know that the life of a battery is not that long (certainly not as long as the life of the phone). What do you do when the battery dies? Do you have to replace the phone? I'm debating just staying with my Note 3. I just rooted it and upgraded the OS to Marshmallow 6.0 (resurrection remix) and put in a 128GB microSD card (for a total of 160GB of storage!). That phone could outperform a Note 5 easy. It worked flawlessly. Marshmallow worked like a dream on it. Unfortunately, I attempted to change the screen which should've left to the professionals. Now I am phoneless.. :-( Anyway, my point is, unless an iris scanner and fingerprint scanner are important to you, then I would keep what you have if it works because the older phones are sometimes the better ones. You can always upgrade the OS or add some memory, or even change the color of it if you're bored with it. As awesome as the Note 7 sounds and as much as I would love to have it, the price tag is really steep. I also would have thought that they would've given us at least 6GB of RAM and 128GB storage since that's what they will be giving China!
Thank you for your feedback. I really appreciated it. Quick question though: Did you root an AT&T version of the Note 3? I ask because I'm about to try and root my AT&T Note 3, and know that I've not had good luck in times past. Separately, do you have a 128GB microSD you recommend (preferably on Amazon)?
Thanks again.
I have the oneplus 3 with 6 gigs and the note 7 and the note kills it 6 gig really isn't needed and the SD card slot is back and u plug in and get such a fast charge not 1 bit necessarily needed the phone is definitely worth the upgrade from my note 5 also my other half has the s7 edge not even close to the same I guess I'm saying go to a best buy and play with the device yourself because u know u can't base your opinion on what everybody else thinks if u get your hands on it u will know what I'm talking about its the best phone to date and location the new stuff WATER RESISTANCE JUST TO MANY TO LIST DO YOUR RESEARCH LIKE REALLY BECAUSE SO MANY PEOPLE ARE BASHING IT THAT ARE GOING ON OTHERS OPINIONS AND WELL THAT SAYS IT ALL AND WE ALL KNOW JUST BECAUSE IT GOT A BAD REVIEW ON ONE SITE HALF OF THE REVIEWERS GO BACK AND EAT THEIR WORDS BECAUSE THEY THOUGHT THEY KNEW WHAT THEY WERE TALKING ABOUT THEN GO BACK AND CORRECT ONCE THE HAVE IT SO JUST HOPE I HELPED IF NOT SORRY HAVE A GOOD ONE
The last two years Samsung improved a lot. Design an software. I think with the S7 edge that was the biggest step forward. Samsung isn't able to move another huge step forward in the ssame year. All these side they add to the rumors are just wrong and need something to write. Do a phone need 6 GB RAM? Well when I can use my phone as a PC yes agree which means I can plug it on an extra screen and work with it but for a pocket PC is just fine.
Ok, so you do not want the Note 7 that's fine but to say it's not what you expected is silly. It's one of the most powerful phones out there and it smokes the competition - yes I would like a removable battery - but with quick charging and Battery saver I can make it work - plus the thing looks good too. My Note 4 is a beast and i will keep it as back up - but I'm signing up for this new beast today
What would impress me most is a phone with SERVICE. All these phones are useless unless you're in a city with lots of cell towers. Back home, "no service" is always displayed. All the bells and whistles in the world don't matter if you can't do the most basic thing that a phone is designed to do: make a telephone call.
WiFi calling has been a life saver for this issue. I had the Note 4 on Verizon and live in the Bay Area where towers are everywhere and I couldn't make calls. Dumped Big Red and went to Tmobile with wifi calling and my Note 4 is perfect now.
That's great if you have an internet connection at home, but if you rely on your phone for all connectivity, not so good.
Verizon has WiFi calling. You don't have to go to T-Mobile for that, Lol.
That...isn't the phone's fault though. You realize this, yes?
The cheap phones are the worst. I noticed premium models seem to be able to make calls with 0-1 bars of signal, while my cheapo model drops calls or is too garbled to make out what either person is saying.
Still using my S3,at these new phone prices WHEW, I will be up grading when my S3 completly dies.
I want the Note 7, I will wait closer to the New year to upgrade though unless I get it as a gift lol. I want to see what HTC do with the Nexus and I read some articles saying Verizon will carry them. That is welcoming news.

I'm going to wait till around the holidays. Maybe I'll be able to get a good deal on one.

I use to have the note 2. Great phone. But needed a larger display. I waited until the flex came out. Nice phone. If samsung ever puts out a 6 inch display I will jump on it. Until then, Every phone that Samsung puts out is just a Note 3 that has been upgraded. Even LG is falling into the same category of 5.5 or 5.7 inch display. Which is all main stream phones. Which is BS because a lot of people like myself like larger displays. It would be nice if both LG and Samsung would make a 5.5/5.7 as well as 6 inch displays. More of a variety to choose from.
Samsung DOES make a 5.7" display, as well as 6" display. The Note 7 is one of many to have a 5.7" display. Samsung makes the Galaxy Mega 2 which has a 6" screen. There is also the Galaxy A9 with a 6" screen. That's just 2 that I can think of... there may be more.
Ordered my Note 7! Samsung you did it! Trading my Note 4 in. Everything perfect, but where is the IR!? No one is talking about this very cool feature.
Yeah! I want to know more about the IR! Coming from a Note 2 for the Note 7 which should be a heck of an upgrade... thinking of getting the gear fit2 and buying my own smaller memory card like the Samsung 128 GB Evo card which is only for 39.99. I think this is the best deal for me. What you guys think?
That's way slower than the UHS-I [3] cards samsung is giving away. WAY slower.
Which is why it's way cheaper.
Probably way less durable as well. Things tend to work out that way, often.
Why no gold or white in the USA?
I thought I saw we will have gold as an option. I'm getting the blue.
Actually, you are correct, I don't see gold on the at&t site.
I noticed that some colors are being delayed for later release in some countries... probably due to the 'unprecedented amount of pre-orders' I suspect. I just read that UK, Australia, India, and Korea will get the gold color. There was no mention of Canada and US getting it though. You could order it online from one of those countries. I haven't heard any mention of white at all. I only thought there was Black, Silver, Gold, and Blue.
Note 6 or bust
Posted via the Android Central App
I know this is just my opinion because I have the Samsung s3 and want an upgrade from it, but knowing that most people might say anything would be an upgrade, but I really believe that the Note 7 might be better then what most people would think it is! Just give it a chance to prove its worthiness!! XD
Hey does anyone agree that the Blue Coral variant is a beauty!!! Also what color is your favorite and if yours was gold i am sorry but I heard that the variant is not reaching the US that is if you live in the US though!!
I like the coral blue and the black on black.
Posted via the Galaxy Note 4
I love the coral blue too. :-)
waiting for availability. will buy as soon as available. Thanks android central for great review.
Great, now people will be able to play pokemon go underwater. This is an awesome phone but does anyone think they are going to be using their phone underwater? seems farfetched...
Actually, now i can see a use for that, when i walk in the rain the touchscreen always goes wrong and have to dry it every 5 seconds, this would fix that. Can anyone think of any other way they could use that feature?
I didn't even think about that and that is awesome because with my s3 I can't play it but I also can not get it wet!
I need to chance my phone :(
Hey

What about how easily gg5 scratches. Watched a YouTube video and it scratched pretty easily.
I haven't used a screen protector since my S3 and I have yet to get a scratched or cracked screen.

I really want the Chinese 128 Gb version (but I don't need it) to replace my Nexus 6
I actually would love an Exynos variant.

I played with the N7 yesterday, comparing it to my aging Note 4 and my buddy's S7 Edge. The N7 was just slightly thicker, but also slightly narrower. What's amazing is how similar the S7E is compared to the N7, but there are some notable differences. We played with the settings on the S7E and N7 to get them as close to identical as we could get. The N7 was clearly brighter with pure white colors looking pure white, while the S7E had a slight tinge to it's darker screen. I'm somewhat color blind, so I can't say what color the tinge was, but it was absolutely noticeable when the devices were compared side by side. So, the phones look alike. The thing is, they don't feel alike. The rounded curves on the N7 feel less extreme and more refined. There was no question that the N7 felt much better in your hand than the S7E. With that said, anyone carrying either phone around without a protective case is just crazy.
I would love to purchase this phone to replace my N4, but I won't. I'm on Sprint, and despite having been with Sprint since 1997, I think I'm finally running out of patience with the company and its leadership. A while back, Sprint decided to switch up their LTE network and do away with simultaneous voice and data. Although I'm generally aware of these things, this decision somehow escaped me. I upgraded from my Note 3 to the Note 4 and became curious why I could check my email or look something up on the browser while I was on a call. That's when I discovered what Sprint had done. I'm nearing the end of all my contracts on Sprint and I think it's time to say goodbye. In this day and age, not having simultaneous voice and data is a recipe for losing customers. Combine that with Sprint's glacial internet speeds and even their unlimited data plans are worthless.
NIC gadget i luv it

Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is PURSUING PERFECTION. And FOR ME... Samsung Galaxy Note 7 IT IS PERFECT.

Showing up. No case can adequately protect this phone. Bad design, IMO.
Geez what a shame it's a cruel world for caseless phones

While note 7 has many great features that I would love to have, my Note 5 gets the job done. What I would love is a new note tablet from Samsung. ..I'm still rocking my note 2014 10.1 and is the best tablet ever. ..just need something newer faster that works with nougat

Well this looks like an awesome device. The microSD slot is a feature that was necessary to bring back and the waterproof feature is great for those little accidents!!
Wondering if this device will come out with a dual Sim later on...that would be great!!
I still love my note 4, but this beast would be welcomed!!! :-)
Cheers!!
I like the specifications of this phone and the fact that I can use the s-pen on the screen without waking it up. That for me is a plus.
Water proofing is another positive as where I live we have heavy continuous rain. Besides I like a new phone even though my S6 is fabulous.
I played with it in the weekend.
I'm impressed.
But my current phone is also 2yrs old.
Soooo, should I get a Note 7 to replace both my S5 phone and my Nexus 7 tablet? I use the tablet for reading so will the smaller screen size of the Note 7 be a problem?
Posted via the Android Central App
Note 7 camera is way superior to the previous note series.
Trying again.
note 7 has many great features that I would love to have
Trying yet again.
Nice phone overall, but 6GB of RAM and a more competitive price would be nice.
I ended up buying the phone, I love it but miss the removable battery. I do like the look and the curved edge is not to extreme, it make the phone seem like there is no bezel. It takes great pictures also! I also wish the screen would have been a bit larger. Maybe next round lol... I think 6 gb of ram would have also been sweet! Again I can hope for the next round! overall I am happy with the phone. It is a tad thinner than my Note 4 I can almost reach across the screen I like that part. it is also thinner! I am not so sold on the water proof, nor the iris scanner the scanner works abut every couple times I try it. I am sure they will work out the bugs for future phones or even updates ( I will not hold my breath for those lol) even if there is an update I am on verizon it will either be forever in coming or it will be bogged down with bloatware anyway lol!

Bleah. Hopefully, if I get this, it will actually get updates.
Wow...Samsung Galaxy Note 7...Superb!!!Even I NEED THIS..But Let The best Win this Note :) :)
Last 8 days left...All the Best :) :)
Come on AndroidCentral...MAKE ME A BELIEVER...MAKE ME THE WINNER OF THIS MIRIFIC SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE 7. I am going to wait just like that: http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/61WAMsbY9GL.png, until you do it. Europe never wins?
"Ask and you shall receive"?
;)
do you still want to win one, or, would you prefer a phone that wont explode in your face?
http://www.androidcentral.com/samsung-galaxy-note-7-recall
When your phone is recalled, Samsung will replace it...
Of course I still want to win one (more than ever), preferably one that doesn't explode, but if you would have had payed attention there are some information on the internet that specifies that not all the smartphones Note 7 have this problem. Samsung suspects that only a stoc of Note 7 produced in China has that problem. I doubt that all the Samsung smartphones Note 7 products are produced in China. Maybe the stoc that Android Central has it is not produced in China and doesn't explode. This is the reason why this exclamation exist: "IF your smartphone its recalled you should better obey it". IF, IF, and another big IF. I don't think Samsung will recall all its Note 7 smartphones in the world. Don't know if the stoc of Note 7 that Android Central has it is suspected to have that problem.
Maybe Android Central specified that its stoc it's from China and I missed that memo, but...
@wase4711
Of course I still want to win one. That error, is a problem that Samsung certainly will fix it. And I LOVE Samsung Galaxy Note 7.
Samsung said that all the Note 7 with that problem sent to the buyers will be replaced and will be sent a new Samsung Galaxy Note 7 to each of that buyers. So...yeah....Of course... That problem can be fixed by Samsung and it will be fixed by Samsung, so...PLEASE Android Central give me a Samsung Galaxy Note 7 because "wase4711" doesn't want one.
I still want a Samsung Galaxy Note 7.
If you don't want a Samsung Galaxy Note 7 it's OK...I still want one.
Try try again.
Still baffled why this phone lagged so much in the PhoneBuff speed test comparison with iPhone 6s even with such beastly specs!!
I wish I could figure that out too. Anyone with any expertise care to explain? Shouldn't Samsung be able to optimize now to match iPhone performance?
Can't we just use this as a tablet? No phone service? Mabye just 4G, but I doubt I'd want even that. I mean, if I were to win this, that's all I'd use it for. If I don't, I'll get the Nexus 7 at some point as my old tablet broke and I have the clunky $50 Amazone one for now.
wow it's crazy how rude and ****** u guys are to each other just don't post if negative!! ok now the s7 edge isn't just like the note 7 its very similar I have them both silver s7 edge silver and blue note 7 it's worth the upgrade from note 5 WICH is what I did and couldn't be any happier bottom line u can't base your decision on the OPINIONS of all of us I mean use it as a starting point b.c until u have had it in hand and used it it's kinda hard to pass or upgrade u really should experience yourself go to best buy and just check it out !!AND SORRY IM NEW TO THIS AND JUST NEED TO GET OUT THEIR NO NEED TO BASH EACHOTHER BEHIND COMPUTER THATS NOT WHAT ITS FOR LATER
Sigh. Keep on trying.
I like Android Central's workmanship and effort. i respect them.
My son got a Note 7 less than a week ago. Mostly loved it, but the glass cracked - right on the rounded edge - while in his pocket. And the battery had to be charged frequently - twice in one day on several occasions. Tried calling Samsung customer service, and it was a nightmare. Hours and hours on the phone, mostly on hold, transfers to wrong departments, being cut off, trying to understand what was being said, as most people had very heavy accents - just awful. And all for nothing - they will not stand behind their product. Sooo disappointed in the company - I was going to get a Note 7 as soon as more were available, but I'm afraid to spend all that money in case something goes wrong and I'm stuck with it...
Note 7 NOT a childs phone thats for sure!. Also if just the basic protection the glass does not break, you probably are not getting all the information from your son. Samsung return policies are awesome. Side note, if you call and get some sort of support and you realize that your call has been initiated into another country, ASK that your call be directed to YOUR country, they will do that.
Firstly, my son is a young man in his twenties, not a child. This happened while he was at work, and there were others there to verify his story, including my husband (as they work together). My son has had a cell phone since he was 8, and has never had one break before, as he is very careful with them. He had purchased a recommended case, and had the glass protector on the front, to try to make sure nothing happened - neither the case nor the screen protector were damaged in any way, suggesting the glass broke for some other reason.
Secondly, I called Samsung three times. On all three calls, I asked to be transferred to someone in my country, and was refused. They insisted I had to talk to Executive Customer Relations, and there were none in my country. So they transferred me - on two calls, I was transferred to "Home Appliances" and had to be transferred back to the cell people, who tried again to transfer me to Exec Customer Relations. Each time, there were on hold waits of at least ten-fifteen minutes while they transferred. On my second call, I asked the person in Customer Relations where he was located, as he definitely did not have a North American accent. He told me he was in Chicago, Illinois (I am in Canada, and had asked for someone in Canada) - and he even mispronounced Illinois. On my third call (after over 24 hours of not hearing back), I was transferred to Home Applicances, back to the cell people, and then to technical support - with all the on hold waits, a total of 45 minutes. The person in Tech Support told me to call back in an hour. I said no, as I had already been on the phone so long. She put me on hold, then came back and said she would transfer me to Customer Relations - and then the line went dead. By the way - the person in Tech Support told me all the Exec Customer Relations reps were located in Dominican Republic - not Chicago.
This has been my first experience with Samsung - my whole family has always used iPhones. But the features of the Galaxy Note 7 seemed so impressive, we had decided to switch. My son and I were to be the first ones, and now I am certainly questioning that decision. If there was a flaw in the glass - that's something that can be forgiven and replaced. But the runaround with customer service makes me very wary of dealing with this company any further.
I heard today there is to be a recall of all the Note 7s due to battery problems - 35 out of the thousands sold have had a problem. So either the company is really being extremely careful, or the "Battery Problem" is being used as an excuse to cover a myriad of problems that will hopefully be fixed with the next edition. I guess only time will tell on that one
****suggestion**** I took some 4k video with the Note 7 over the weekend, downloaded the Samsung App from the playstore "smart view" by samsung. If you have a Samsung TV and I hope you do since all integrations are seamless and one push, played the video over my 60" Samsung TV and it actually looks clearer than the it did with my eyes, amazing. On your note 7 you open the app, in the app you see all your videos, you push the video then it interrupts the video source on the tv to open new source in about a second, then up ending the video on your note 7 it returns automatically to the source previously that you were viewing on the tv.
What sort of Samsung TV do you have? I would like a new one so I was just wondering.
Trying yet again.
I think it's good how Samsung have taken responsibility of the exploding phones instead of saying how the customer must have damaged it somehow.
Trying again on a weekend.
What are you trying may I ask?
Transfer, backup & restore everything on Galaxy Note 7
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_VFct1jW5MY
That seems pretty cool! But does it cost?
So if I win, will I need to send it in due to the recall?
You don't have to, you just risk the chance of it blowing up, unless Android Central is giving away a recalled one which I highly doubt because no-one has got a recalled one back yet.
We have to wait patiently for that Android Central to giveaway a perfectly Samsung Galaxy Note 7 that will not explode in our face. I still LOVE this smartphone with all its problems. I still love this smartphone despite all its problems that it has due to concerns over faulty battery cells causing explosions.
I hope Android Central will giveaway a perfectly Samsung Galaxy Note 7 soon!!! Samsung needs to fix this problem soon with its smartphone Samsung Galaxy Note 7 global recall.
I think Apple is very pleased about Samsung's unfortune (bad luck). I hate crApple.
I still want a samsung Galaxy Note 7 as soon as this Android Central giveaway returns.

What do you mean "as soon as this Android Central Samsung Galaxy Note 7 giveaway returns"? Have they stopped it due to the recall?
"Returns" like in "Android Central returns saying who is the lucky winner". Returns to say who is the winner. I think I express myself wrong. You understood now Cheung14?
Like in: return to say who is the lucky winner. I expressed myself wrong.
Ah, I understand now
Final try?
I don't care give me a Note 7 half price , I'll take it as it cos I don't believe all those batteries blew by battery nature I believe people ruined it intentionally.
When will you say the winner of this amazing smartphone?
