Why we (still?) didn't get lastpass
A couple months ago we were trialing about 5 password managers and some techs chuckled when I threw Lastpass into the mix. I explained that "the great hack" was a bit talked up compared to it's reality so we gave it a trial.
At home we even went over a few options in spare time too, and my flatmate jumped in and bought LP Premium. I held out figuring I would be on LP Enterprise or a competing equivalent within the fortnight.
___ Then during our trial your servers went down. ___
I asked my flatmate if he was affected or if maybe we had a bad connection at my work: "oh yeah it popped up a notice saying that it didn't syncing but that made no difference to me, because I could still log into everything".
This was not the case for me though - setting up new users daily, which means generating 12+ new passwords per user, not to mention general sys-admin adjustments... I had nothing. I don't mean "oh yeah it didnt sync to cloud but it will eventually" I mean LastPass just BRICKED. I could log into my own admin portals using the cached passwords, but making any changes was useless because when the "save" dialog popped up it would just time-out. No offline caching... no "we will post this change when we regain connection"... your service literally was useless to me for the function that most sys-admins would need it for.
It was clearly a bad 'Murica day for you, but I was SO surprised that it made it a bad day for me, due to your inability to function (even though you have offline caching) without your cloud. But the functionality was FAR-FROM the worst part of what you call Enterprise service:
There was NO notification for you. No dead-man's-switch email, No service-status update website. Your twitter feeds were dead-silent (except for all the enquiries to deaf-ears) and nobody responded to any of my questions for what is happening by email, facebook, twitter.
I REALLY wanted to sign us to LastPass and I still revisit the possibility frequently... but you shouldn't have an offline-cached service BRICK when servers go down, and you CERTAINLY should not hide and leave users in the dark if there is an interruption. Looking back through articles when trying to find your current status page (the current link is a hard-redirect to a twitter feed) there is countless articles over the years discussing your terrible handling of outages...
Does your software allow passwords to sync across mulitple users?
Hi,
i was looking for a password manager that can sync passwords across multiple users in the same business, is this something you can do?

Aug 24, 2016 at 9:39 UTCHi Oliver, my apologies for the slow response as I've been out on holiday!
Yes, LastPass does facilitate password sharing. Our solution is very flexible - you can share passwords one-by-one, or share a whole folder of passwords and notes with other team members. LastPass Enterprise allows you to share an unlimited number of passwords and an unlimited number of folders, and allows you to set policies around sharing, too. That helps you control who can have read-write access, or who can have read-only access to shared credentials. It also makes it easy to update shared passwords behind-the-scenes, increasing security without slowing anyone down.
There is more information here: https://lastpass.com/enterprise/sharing and I'm happy to answer with any further questions! I also invite you to join our weekly webinar for more information about how LastPass Enterprise can help your business: https://lastpass.com/webinars
Setting up account, email already in use.
Hi, similar to Fatbeard below I want to create an account but my email address is already in use. The difference is that I did not create the original account. Is there some way you can notify them of this rather than me just resetting the account?
Thanks.
-
Jul 14, 2016 at 1:33 UTCHey Nathan, it's unlikely we'll be able to notify whoever tried to set up the account if they used the wrong email. If you private message me the email we can check whether it's active or inactive, and you can then make the call to delete it or not: https://lastpass.com/delete_account.php As the owner of the email address, you'll be able to complete the steps to delete the account and start over.
We just setup a trial enterprise account and are unable to share folder
When I attempt to share a folder it is visible for about 2 minutes in the local vault the disappears. I am unable to then move items into the vault.

Jul 17, 2016 at 3:22 UTCHi there! Thanks for the report, do you have an open support ticket with the team? If you've refreshed the vault (use LastPass Icon > More options > Advanced > Refresh vault, or logged out and logged back in) with no change, please message me the account email address, and we can look into that further for you!
Setting up new account, email already in use
Hi
I'm trying to install Lastpass on my iPhone. I tried it about a year ago, and it was my favourite of the password managers. But the project was put on the back burner, coming back to it again. And I've long forgotten the master password I used at the time.
I can use a new email address, but I want to test password sharing with my boss and it might look strange if I didn't use my standard email.
I don't want any of the passwords I stored, just want to start again so I can test once more.
Is this possible?
Thanks
-
Jul 6, 2016 at 3:39 UTCThanks for revisiting! You can delete the previous account with our steps here: https://lastpass.com/delete_account.php and then get started again with the same email address (https://lastpass.com/download).
Let me know if I can help further!

May 11, 2016 at 7:46 UTCYes, I have used the magnifying glass icon. However, I don't want to hijack Marty's thread so if you have any questions about what we've experienced feel free to PM or email me. My company is a corporate client and I'm the admin so you can find me in your system.
-
May 26, 2016 at 4:33 UTCThanks Nick I sent a PM!
Trademark?
Why don't I see a trademark on LastPass anywhere on your site? I would think you'd want to protect your mark. Your fancy new logo doesn't have one either.
-
May 25, 2016 at 11:54 UTCHey Bill, apologies we missed your note! I'm not sure where it needs to be trademarked but I've mentioned this to our design team. Thanks and let us know if we can help further!
Feature requset: Equivalent Sites via browser plugin
There may be some security reason I'm not aware of, but it's a real PITA to add a (local) equivalent site on the fly by requiring me to login online and do it via the web admin UI. Is it not possible to enable this functionality in the browser plugin?
-
May 31, 2016 at 2:49 UTCHey Murray! Apologies I missed your note - currently there is no quicker way to set equivalent domains other than to launch account settings from the vault but I've noted the feedback for the product team's consideration.
Let us know if we can help further!
Can you not pay with debit card?
Hi
I want Lastpass Premium. When I put in my details though it says the card is declined. I've used it to pay for other things before and since.
It is a UK, HSBC Visa Debit card. Do you not accept debit cards? Because if so, how can you not have at least a PayPal option for those of us without credit cards???
-
Apr 7, 2016 at 4:31 UTCHi daljeetsingh3,
Your current options are to use credit cards on our Premium purchasing page or make an in-app purchase on iTunes, Google Play, and Amazon App Store. I hope one of those options will work for you, we apologize for any inconvenience.
Thanks,
-
Apr 7, 2016 at 4:33 UTCThanks Amber. I think actually my bank flagged this as a potentially fraudulent purchase so it didn't let me complete this transaction... will try it agian later.
LastPast setup
In the manual under "import passwords from a .csv file" it states to click on the LastPass icon and choose "other options" from the dropdown list. Whenever I click on the icon if anything appears it is only the introduction but no "other options".
Can you please help with this? Also is LastPass compatible with Edge, IE 11, and Chrome?
I am running Windows 10 64 bit.
Thanks

Apr 6, 2016 at 12:29 UTCHello Amber,
Although I was in the class of 2001 Information Technology graduates from the Indiana Business College, now Harrison, LastPass has totally and completely stumped me. So I have given up and said "uncle" to trying to install it. It is over my head.
Thanks anyway for your help.

Aug 1, 2016 at 9:39 UTCI am getting the exact same error:
"Found 0 items or could not parse data. If you are importing a file, make sure the file is in UTF-8 encoded."when I go to import from Safari on my MAC running the latest release of the OS - Did someone find an answer? There is nothing to take a screenshot of, as there is only the above listed error.
How to silently install LastPass Enterprise without LastPass for Applications?
We just need to install the browser plugins and do not want LastPass for Applications to be installed. However, no matter what command line switches I use, I end up with a prompt at logon asking me to type in my Windows credentials and ensure they match up with my LastPass info.
In the installed programs listing, I see 'LastPass for Applications,' but I'm fairly certain I do not want this. How can I automate the installation so that I only get the browser plugins, but they are configured for my domain account?
Here's an example of the command-line switches that I'm using currently:
lastpass_x64full.exe -dl=mydomain.com -cid=8424362 -chsh=8790a1c546 --silinstall --userinstallie --userinstallff --userinstallchrome --installforallusers --uninstallwinlogin

Mar 26, 2016 at 10:27 UTCGot a ticket created and they have been able to replicate my issue. Hopefully they'll have a fix out soon...!
Passwords now appearing plaintext - how to change default to hide?
Since the theme change, passwords on web pages are now appearing cleartext, with a HIDE button.
This should NOT be the default. The default should be the usual *'s, with a SHOW button - if you have to have any button at all.
How do I change the default to not show the password in cleartext?

Mar 18, 2016 at 7:19 UTCGood Afternoon,
Sorry, you are having trouble. That is not expected behavior. Would you please submit a ticket to https://lastpass.com/supportticket.php?
Thanks,

LastPass not filling out Spiceworks Helpdesk login
Hi everyone, over the last couple weeks I've noticed this on Chrome. Even if I manually select it and choose AutoFill it still will not. I have to Copy Password then log in manually. I've tried clearing all my browsing data, and it does seem to work on IE11. Wondering if anyone else is seeing this as well or if someone knows of a way to "force" LastPass to work again for this site?
Thanks!
(mods, couldn't find a LastPass group in the list to choose from, so move if you must!)

Hey Justin! Sorry to hear of the login trouble. I've just tested my Spiceworks login and it appears to be working, so I'd recommend the following steps:
1. Try deleting & resaving the login to LastPass.
2. Double-check a "Never URL" rule wasn't accidentally set for Spiceworks.com by heading to your Account Settings (LastPass Icon > My LastPass Vault > Account Settings) and looking in the "Never URLS" tab. If a rule was saved, delete it and save your changes, then try again.
Let me know if any problems continue! You're always welcome to message me directly too if I can be of help.
