| Due to organizational changes, the Graphviz web site will see some modifications in the near future. In particular, it will probably no longer provide binary packages for Windows and Macs. The latter can be obtained via Macports or Home Brew. If someone wants to set up Appveyor for Windows, we would be grateful. |
Real time help?
Hello.
Is there anywhere one can receive real time help? I tried the #graphviz channel on freenode, but no one is responding.
I have questions about the rendering of several of my dot files. For example...
One has a line that went up then back down instead of just going straight down.
Some have edges which are not going into the top of nodes but in the sides which bugs me.
A few have lines going every which way and not making sense.
For another I can not figure out how to get a group of nodes to move left of an edge.
I would also love to know if there is a way to "sign" the images. I do not know how to get a node to sit in the lower right hand corner of the image.
I am getting frustrated a bit, but I don't want to clog this forum with question after question of how to position things so the nodes and edges go where I want. (The one with the nodes I want moved left and I are in a death match right now.)
If there is no real time help, would it be acceptable to ask question after question until I get graphviz to render the images the way I want them (or as close as possible)?

There is no real time help.
There is no real time help. There are only a few of us working on Graphviz and our current jobs no longer include Graphviz support as part of our assignment. In particular, we don't monitor other forums that have a Graphviz thread, unless by chance. This forum would be a good place for your questions. We check here; other people using Graphviz might be able to answer; and the forum provides an archive for anyone in the future who has similar questions.
Please feel free to post your questions here, with as much detail as possible, including your dot file and your output. I know you were just giving a quick list of concerns but saying "Some have edges which are not going into the top of nodes but in the sides which bugs me" doesn't give us much to work with.
Thank you
I will do that, and thank you for replying.
