New Delhi [India], Oct. 6 (ANI): The Ministry of External Affairs on Thursday said India would take up with China the issue of blocking of Brahmaputra tributary and other relevant issues that occurred after the last meeting will be taken up at the next meeting of the expert level mechanism. Replying to a media query, MEA spokesperson Vikas Swarup said, "There is a bilateral agreement with China to share information on cross border rivers, including Brahmaputra and Sutlej." "The two countries have an expert-level mechanism, which meets regularly to discuss issues concerning cross border rivers. The Chinese side has conveyed on several occasions that they are only undertaking run-of-the-river hydro power projects, which do not involve diversion of the waters of the Brahmaputra, he said.

Islamabad, Oct 6 (IANS) Faced with growing global isolation and pressure to act against terror originating from Pakistan, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has bluntly asked the military leadership, including the ISI, to act against terrorist groups and conclude soon the probes into the 2008 Mumbai and 2016 Pathankot attacks. Pakistan's influential Dawn newspaper, citing unnamed sources, said the civilian government, in a "blunt, orchestrated and unprecedented warning", asked military-led intelligence agencies "not to interfere if law enforcement acts against militant groups that are banned or until now considered off-limits for civilian action". "Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has directed that fresh attempts be made to conclude the Pathankot investigation and restart the stalled Mumbai attacks-related trials in a Rawalpindi anti-terrorism court," the newspaper said.

Islamabad, Oct 6 (IANS) The Pakistan government on Thursday dismissed as "not only speculative but misleading and factually incorrect" a Dawn news report on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif asking the ISI to act against terrorists or face global isolation. A spokesperson of the Prime Minister's Office "has strongly rejected" the report about the deliberations in a meeting between the government and military leadership, including Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) chief Lt. Gen. Rizwan Akhtar, on security issues of the country. The fact that the report itself states that none of the attributed statements were confirmed by the individuals mentioned in the story clearly makes it an example of irresponsible reporting," the PMO spokesperson said in a Facebook post.
