'Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales': Why was Johnny Depp axed from the trailer?
Where the heck is Captain Jack Sparrow? The new trailer for Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales does not show the louche pirate with the hair charms, slurry line delivery and excessive eyeliner. Instead it features spooky Captain Salazar, a scenery-chewing villain played by Javier Bardem. Having Bardem around as the bad guy is always a good thing. Jack Sparrow is present in spirit, mind you. He turns up on a wanted poster and the ghostly Captain Salazar (you can tell he’s a ghost because his hair moves in slow motion) threatens that, “Death will come straight for him!” Salazar then adds a “please” in a way that suggests some of Salazar’s shtick might be played for laughs. Or not.

Yet even as he did so, he claimed the astonishing recording was "nothing more than a distraction" and argued his words were not nearly as egregious as former President Bill Clinton's marital affairs. House Speaker Paul Ryan said he was sickened by Trump's comments, while a one-sentence response from GOP's chairman was devastating.

Venezuela's well-paid oil workers are selling their uniforms for food
For decades, jobs at Venezuela's state-run oil giant PDVSA were coveted for above average salaries, generous benefits and cheap credit that brought home ownership and vacationing abroad within reach for many workers. Now, in Venezuela's asphyxiating economy, even PDVSA employees are struggling to pay for everything from food and bus rides to school fees as triple-digit inflation eats away incomes. They are pawning goods, maxing out credit cards, taking side jobs, and even selling PDVSA uniforms to buy food, according to Reuters' interviews with two dozen workers, family members, and union leaders. "Every day a PDVSA worker comes to sell his overall," said Elmer, a hawker at the biggest market in the oil city of Maracaibo, as shoppers eyed pricey rice and flour imported from neighboring Colombia.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said provinces must establish a minimum carbon price of $10 per tonne by 2018, which must rise by $10 each year to $50 per tonne by 2022, or the federal government will do it for them.

"As an adult sometimes all we want is one person to stop, get on our level and maybe wipe our

Short supply, bad infrastructure blamed for Canada housing bubble
By Andrea Hopkins OTTAWA (Reuters) - A shortage of land for development and inadequate infrastructure are fueling the massive spike in Canada's house prices and may undercut the government's efforts to stabilize the market, according to developers and realtors. Supply is especially acute in the frothiest markets of Toronto and Vancouver, where strict greenbelt rules and limited transit beyond protected land hamper development. While Canada has plenty of land and not that many people, most of its 36 million population lives along the U.S. border, and 81 percent live in an urban area.
