There are a number of current and upcoming trends on the digital forensics horizon. Here at the beginning of 2017, Forensic Focus was able to connect with Jamie McQuaid, Forensic Consultant at Magnet Forensics (or McMan on the Forensic Focus forums) to discuss some of the trends he is seeing and how technology will work to address them.
Tell us a little bit about yourself, your background and your current role at Magnet Forensics.
I’m Jamie McQuaid. I’m currently a Forensics Consultant at Magnet Forensics, where I act as a subject matter expert for the organization, helping out various teams writing blogs / hosting webinars / speaking at conferences, helping our dev team build out products. I am lucky enough to be able to spend time with our customers as well, helping them problem solve, working with them to identify useful new features, and listening to their feedback on our products. more ...

Tell us a little bit about yourself and your role at Magnet Forensics.
My name is Jade Promhouse and I’m a software tester on the development team. I joined Magnet Forensics full time in 2016 after completing my degree in Computational Math. As a software tester, I try to mimic the customer experience and perspective as closely as possible, and test the latest bug fixes and features. I add my own unique perspective to this as well. In this way, I can test the software to see if it works as the customer would expect, and also provide feedback on features to the developers and product managers. more ...

John, you're Executive Chairman at X1 Discovery. Tell us a bit about your role - what does a day in your life look like?
This is an exciting time in the eDiscovery and computer forensics field, given all the legal developments and technical innovation, so a lot of my time is spent tracking and analyzing these various changes and advancements. I am active on our blog and generally publish two articles a month. I also engage a lot with key partners and law firms to bring joint services and technology solutions to our mutual customers. And I am chairman of the board of directors where I oversee X1’s strategy and get to focus on the big picture. more ...

Interview With Yuri Gubanov, CEO, Belkasoft
Monday December 12, 2016 (17:25:16) (750 Reads)
Check why the interview with Yuri Gubanov, CEO of Belkasoft, is special and also find a secret deal inside Yuri's talk!
Yuri, you told me that this interview is a bit unusual, what did you mean?
To be honest, I answered the questions for this Forensic Focus interview twice. During my first attempt, I took it a bit too seriously, so when I read the result I found the answers to be extremely dry and dull. I am regularly reading interviews here, and I also used to do that at my (now closed) project f-interviews.com for several years, and they are all the same. We are all customer-oriented, we all have great products, we are all full of plans and optimism. Always very little on a person themselves. So I decided to give it another go, but be less serious with my replies, and also add some personal things. And some videos!
Hopefully, now it is much more amusing to read! more ...
