Standard impeachment defense is to portray impeachers as partisan. Impeachers deny, declare devotion to rule of law, etc. Interesting to see play out in context of campaigning. 4/4 End.

Clinton was impeached in 1998-1999 after winning re-election in 1996. Nixon resigned ahead of impeachment in 1974 after winning re-election in 1972. How politicized would impeachment in midst of re-election campaign be? 3/4
