I've not been able to record the Presidential debates with the Plex DVR by jb4647 in PleX

So just two comments after 1 day and both are from smartasses.

The question still remains. Why would something not record if it's listed on the Recording Schedule?

Watched as traffic got backed up on Weslayan with cars waiting for these bicycle freaks to get out of the way. And what the hell is with the speakers blasting all kinds of music?

Harris County Commissioner’s Court will vote on a proposed parking plan today that would transform part of the Astrodome at NRG Park into a parking garage by QSector in houston

[–]jb4647 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well if this were 1968 then yes you have a point. This is 2016 and that area has been depressed since at least the last 90's.

Putting Reliant Stadium there didn't "transform" the area.

I'm sure they've done marketing studies on how many people on a daily/weekly/monthly basis would shop/play/rock climb etc and found the demand isn't there.

Don't know if you've ever been inside but the Astrodome is HUGE. The area around it is not the most 'charming' neighborhood either.

With the events that they hold at NRG, a parking garage is utilitarian and would bring in revenue to keep the exterior maintained. Perhaps someday they can do something else with it but for the past 16 years it's been just sitting costing the taxpayers $$.

[–]jb4647 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been proposing this for years. All of the other ideas such as shopping center or amusement park are ludicrous as no one is going to hang out and shop on Kirby and 610.

Turning the Astrodome into indoor parking garage is the only feasible thing we can do with it, other than tearing it down.

After putting the ballpark, basketball arena, and now soccer stadium downtown, why they decided to put Reliant (now NRG) stadium down near the dome is still a question I ask.

Since there is nothing else that can be done inside, and the only thing people care about is the exterior, making it an indoor parking facility for NRG Stadium is the best and most logical choice.

As long as they preserve the exterior, they can always repurpose it in the future, right now its sitting there doing nothing. Lets put it to immediate use.

[–]jb4647 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's actually the most brilliant idea. I've been saying for years they should retain the outside structure ,the only thing people care about, and turn the inside into covered parking for NRG Stadium events.

It's so simple. There really is no other viable purpose other than tearing it down.

Texas voting rights: State put under court supervision for flouting ID ruling. by jb4647 in houston

Dude, that's just an effort in frustration. Some things are just more important to be worried about.

I stopped worrying about such things years ago and I'm a much better man for it. A lot less stressed I can tell you.

I still stand by my statement, that Houston has a lot of voters and this issue is not just a Texas issue. We will just have to agree to disagree.

You know, the time you spent typing that took longer than simply ignoring the post in the first place. You don't have to open and read each and every posting on subreddit you know.

Takes me about a 30 secs to scan a page and quickly filter out what I'm interested in clicking on vs not. If I'm not interested I ignore it and go about my day.
