Drupal Social Initiative
This group is specifically for organising, planning and working on Drupal projects being fostered by developers/architects interested in harmonising Social Networking functionality in Drupal. This group is also the focal point for organising BoFs, sprints and camps.
See the current plan at Drupal Social Initiative (Social API) and at Issues for Social API.
We have a Drupal Social Initiative Google Group.
We have a Drupal Social Initiative Trello space.
Make a request so we can add you to Drupal Social Initiative on GitHub so we can code together. And see issues at Issues for Drupal Social Initiative on GitHub
Make a request so we can add you to the Drupal Social Initiative Google Drive so that we can collaboratively create documents and diagrams.
For chat use https://join.skype.com/ah3MJ8jQVHWF or we can use irc://irc.freenode.net/#kendraio. But Skype is monitored more frequently.
Follow Drupal Social Initiative page on Google+ so that it's easy to invite you to our regular Hangouts.
Like the Drupal Social Initiative page on Facebook for some reason that we can't quite remember.
Please no job posts here. Use Drupal Jobs. Thanks.

Seeking mentor for Google Summer of Code 2016 for Social API module
We are looking for a technical mentor for the Social API project for the GSoC (Google Summer of Code) 2016 to work alongside Daniel Harris. We are currently working to get the Social API module to be one of the projects that Google Summer of Code students will work on during this summer: https://groups.drupal.org/node/508466#project7 . Valentin Sánchez is interested in working on this project as the student.

In order to get some momentum going I'm setting up Google Hangouts for every Wednesday at 15:15 UTC as events on the Drupal Social Initiative Google+ page. Of course people don't have to be on every Hangout and we can keep them short. But it's good to have regular checkins.
Here's some points for discussion:
REQUIREMENTS:
- Requirements.
- User stories.
- Make UI mockups for configuration and user views.
- We need to do sequence diagram for how things are going to work.

I'm not sure if we have a place for interesting services that inspire us. So, I'm just starting a thread here to capture inspirations. And here's one...
Read moreTrying to change title of this group to Drupal Social Initiative...
We have an issue (see https://www.drupal.org/node/2414195 ) in project groups.drupal.org which is trying to get the title of this group changed to Drupal Social Initiative whilst keeping the URL of https://groups.drupal.org/social-initiative
Would be great if we got some support from everyone here by following the issue and/or commenting on the issue.
There are many other groups which have titles different from their URLs. Seems like we just need to find someone with enough Drupal magic to do this. Any ideas?
Read moreSocial Media Privacy: how can we implement it in Drupal?
There are many facets to privacy.
One of the many that I would like to explore are ways to obscure your identify even if you use modules which connect to social networks or ways to notify end users if their privacy might be compromised. We could take a look at things like notifications.
Just wanted to start a discussion to see if this is important to anyone else?

Hello there.
The great BOF was great. i would like to see if we can start scrumming the social initiative.
I think we need to think on: When/What/Where.
When: A nice date that a lot of people could join in. We spread in a lot of places. I for instance in Israel so Friday, Saturday during 10:00 am(we have something like UTC+2, depend when we switch to daylight saving time clock).

Here are some points...
- A really good point made was that we are at a very crucial juncture where all modules need to be recoded for Drupal 8. If we can propose a new social integration API framework, that heavily abstracts functionality into several layers, then we may win the hearts and minds of a lot of module maintainers who are facing the daunting tasking of upgrading their modules. By sharing the work of maintaining social network API libraries we can all save a bit of time and be more efficient collectively.
