Camera Distribution Project
Launched in 2007, the B'Tselem Video Department's Camera Project strives to protect human rights in the Occupied Territories through the medium of film. The Project distributes hundreds of video cameras to trained Palestinian volunteers who live in high tension areas within the West Bank, East Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip. These volunteers capture video footage, which B’Tselem distributes through traditional and new media in Israel and abroad. The cameras enable individuals to share their daily struggles and put a human face on the realities of living under military occupation.

Hebron
Over the years, several very small Israeli settlements were established in or near the Old City of Hebron, the commercial hub for the entire southern West Bank. Israeli security forces drew on the need to protect these settlements as justification for a policy based on the principle of separation, leading to severe restrictions on Palestinian movement and a lack of law enforcement in the case of violent settlers. The Gaza Strip
In September 2005 Israel completed its unilateral disengagement plan and announced an end to Israeli martial law in the Gaza Strip. However, Israel retained control of Gaza’s sea and air space, the crossings between Gaza and Israel, and Gaza’s registry of population. In June 2007 after Hamas took control of the Gaza Strip, Israel imposed a siege on Gaza, prohibiting both Palestinian travel to or from Gaza as well as the import and export of goods. In 2010, Israel eased the closure, permitting imports – with the exception of a small number of items – into Gaza. Most restrictions on exports remain in place. Settler Violence
As the occupying force, Israel must protect the Palestinians in the West Bank. However, the Israeli authorities neglect to fulfill this responsibility and do not do enough to prevent Israeli civilians from attacking Palestinians, their property and their lands. The undeclared policy of the Israeli authorities in response to these attacks is lenient and conciliatory. Perpetrators are rarely tried, and many cases are not investigated at all or are closed with no operative conclusions.-
