Accenture´s Veteran Technology Training Program

Udacity and Accenture are partnering to equip veterans with the skills needed to be an entry level Software Engineering Associate with Accenture. Once selected you will be asked to enroll, free of charge, into our Intro to Java course. Accenture and Udacity are offering the a premium version of the course, exclusively for veterans enrolled in this Veteran Technology Program, which includes coaching support and a Verified Certificate of completion.

Mike Wales

USAF Veteran

The lack of formal education in web development did him no disservice in landing top-tier jobs. From 2003 to 2009, Michael was employed by the United States Air Force as a Computer Systems Administrator NCO. He developed everything from client systems and network infrastructure for the Joint Space Operations Center. He was also the sole system and network technician for five General Officers within the Joint Functional Component Command for Space and the 14th Air Force, addressing all software, hardware, and infrastructure issues across all network classification levels.

Following his time in the Air Force, Michael continued to hone his skills as a web developer with time in government intelligence at General Dynamics Information Technology and Kforce Government Solutions, developing a variety of impressive web applications using everything from JavaScript and jQuery to AngularJS, PHP, and MySQL. April 2014 brought him to Udacity, where he´s in charge of managing the company´s entire web development curriculum, planning, developing, and ensuring technical accuracy of all of Udacity´s web development courses and Nanodegree programs. His decade-plus of experience in web development has put him in a place where he can use his well-earned skills to impart the same passion he has for the field to his students.

Jason Barros

USMC Veteran

Jason Barros is leading the OMSCS effort for Udacity in a joint alliance with Georgia Tech and AT&T to produce the world's first online master's degree program in computer science.

Jason served in the United States Marine Corps infantry from 1988- 1994, serving as a fire-team leader in Desert Shield/ Storm and as a squad leader for the Joint Task Force. After his service, Jason attended University of California, Santa Cruz and earned his Bachelor´s degree in 2000 in history with a concentration in Medieval and Islamic history.

Prior to joining Udacity, Jason spent a majority of the last 17 years working in education; gaining experience at the high school, university, and education technology sectors.

Chris Van Groningen

US Army Veteran

Chris decided to enlist in the Army´s DEP (delayed entry program) when he started his senior year of high school. He entered the Army in Sept of 1986 and started basic training at Ft. Sill Oklahoma. His MOS was 15E (Pershing Missile Crewman). After basic training he was shipped off to Germany to begin his new life. Chris was stationed in a small town named Schwäbisch Gmünd where he stayed for 2 years. Chris parlayed his military experience and education into a successful career. He is now a Director of Human Resources at Udacity.

Allan Reyes

US Army Veteran

Allan did his undergrad at MIT, and graduated in 2007 with a bachelor´s degree in mechanical engineering. He joined the Army as an Infantry Officer, and has deployed to both Iraq and Afghanistan. When he returned from service, he took a position as the lead mechanical engineer of a robotics company. With ambitions to move into software and web development, he openly embraced the online education movement and has graduated from the Front-end, Full-stack, and Data analyst Nanodegree programs.

Scott Moss

USN Veteran

Scott is a Sr. Frontend engineer at Udacity where he works mainly on growth initiatives. Before Udacity, Scott was the lead engineer/ instructor at Hack Reactor where he built and taught curriculum for hundreds of engineers. After graduating high school, Scott joined the Navy as a SEAL then transitioned into a Helicopter mechanic. While stationed in San Diego, Scott picked up programming from various free online resources. After 4 years of service, he moved to San Francisco and became a full time programmer.

Cynthia O´Donnell

USN Veteran

After graduating from college, Cynthia served in The US Navy. During this time Cynthia was the Strike Warfare Officer onboard a Destroyer where she oversaw the maintenance and use of the Tomahawk Land Attack Missile System.

She later served onboard a Cruiser as the Damage Control Assistant, training the ship´s crew to prevent and control damage from fire and flooding.

While in the Navy, Cynthia was deployed to the Arabian Gulf, Indian Ocean, Mediterranean Sea and the North Sea.
