    If unemployment is really heading to 20% for a period of time, there will be a lot of people who will be food insecure and hungry. That stinks. So if you have an extra cash to spare, can you join us in supporting them?

    The other critiques (how do you move current landowners fairly, does it raise enough revenue, etc) fall down quickly. But the “what’s the right rate?” one is sticky to me. At least: way higher than it is now. And many other tax rates should be way lower in exchange.

    A regime which moves more tax revenue into unimproved land almost makes so much sense to me. In 4 years investigating it, the one critique I’ve come across “how do you ensure govt doesn’t set that tax rate too high to make *any* land ownership economic”

    A lot of conversations in private channels around the ethics of paying rent during this crisis actually expose the idea that land ownership is unto itself often extractive on the economy, rather than productive to it.

    If we don't simply need stimulus, but reimagination of our economic system, one concept turning over in my head: taxing land values. Maybe Henry George had it right. Landlords eat the spoils of everyone else's productivity.
