What annoys me most about Rey's character is how she never has to deal with any hardships throughout the films. She easily is automatically fighting like a professional master jedi despite never even using the force and holding a lightsaber. She didn't have to ever train to become powerful which to me defeats the whole concept of how the force works. Even for those who were extremely gifted and skilled like Luke and Anakin had to train extremely hard with multiple masters for years to achieve the level of skill they got to.

Namor “ѕυв-мαяιиєя” McKenzie: +Victor von Doom • Doctor Doom Exactly. Even Luke when he had like 3 years of training could only pull off the most basic force powers. She beat Kylo Ren because of plot armour alone.

Jon Snow: +Namor McKenzie She beat Kylo Ren because Kylo had been shot in the gut by Chewies bowcaster, a weapon which sends stormtroopers flying when they're hit by it. Kylo had also just killed his own father, so his head wasn't in the right place. He also had orders to bring Rey to Snoke alive. Pay attention.

But yes, Rey is pretty much a Mary Sue (although in the Last Jedi she nearly died fighting one of Snokes guards, and sustained injuries in it, whilst Kylo managed to kill three all on his own. )

Believe it or not I still have yet to see the movie. I thought this official site was pretty cool though. It lets you dig a bit deeper into the characters of this particular installment of Star Wars....

moonandmist: Some of the "telepathic phone call" between Kylo and Rey looked as if directed by a child. I just did not connect with any of the story or elements of the story.

I walked away feeling as though a $20 dollar "fast one" had been pulled on me. With the exception of Rogue One, nothing Disney has done feels remotely "Star Warsy".
