Viewer’s letter: There was a film about stoning. Friends of mine who saw it say that if this is Islam, I am not a believer. Did the stoning of women take place in the time of our Prophet (pbuh)? 

These are total lies. Stoning is a terrible form of death applied by the pagans of Mecca, the pagans of Egypt and the pagans of Syria. They killed women in a terrible way because they were jealous of them. On allegations of adultery; people are driven crazy by the idea a woman looks at a man or is in the same room with a man. Just killing her normally does not satisfy them. They have them killed by stoning. That is what turns them on. They also say the stones have to be small. The pagans of the time would start stoning in the morning and continue until evening and she would still not die, so they say they struck her to death with the jaw bone of a camel.

You must fear God. What kind of huge lie is this? Could a Muslim ever do something like that? You are depicting Muslims as savage and barbaric. This bigotry is a terrible thing. May God forbid. 'We were unable to kill her with small stones, so they struck her to death with the jaw bone of a camel.' Then at the end they say, 'There was no sin left in her. She was purged.' Everyone there has become a murderer. What will your position be? You become a murderer by persecution. They will all end up in hell.

A PREGNANT woman was stoned to death by her own family in front of a Pakistani high court on Tuesday for marrying the man she loved.
Nearly 20 members of the woman’s family, including her father and brothers, attacked her and her husband with batons and bricks in broad daylight before a crowd of onlookers in front of the high court of Lahore, police investigator Rana Mujahid said.
Hundreds of women are murdered every year in Muslim-majority Pakistan in so-called “honour killings” carried out by husbands or relatives as a punishment for alleged adultery or other illicit sexual behaviour, but public stoning is extremely rare.
Mr Mujahid said the woman’s father has been arrested for murder and that police were working to apprehend all those who participated in the “heinous crime.”
Another police officer, Naseem Butt, identified the slain woman as Farzana Parveen, 25, and said she had married Mohammad Iqbal against her family’s wishes after being engaged to him for years.
Her father, Mohammad Azeem, had filed an abduction case against Mr Iqbal, which the couple was contesting, said her lawyer, Mustafa Kharal. He confirmed that she was three months pregnant.

Hundreds of angry Muslims threw chunks of concrete and eggs at a team of Christians, spraying them with urine and cursing at them – all while police stood by and then threatened the victims with "disorderly conduct."
