Israel marks Holocaust memorial day

Israel commemorated its annual Holocaust Remembrance Day with an official ceremony held in #Jerusalem on Wednesday's evening.

Six Holocaust survivors, each representing one of the six million Jews killed in the holocaust, lighted six torches at the ceremony at Jerusalem's Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial Museum.

From Wednesday sunset to Thursday, Israel is officially commemorating the genocide of the six million Jews killed by #Nazi Germany during the World War II.

The annual ceremony at Yad Vashem marked the beginning of 24 hours during which shops, restaurants and places of entertainments are closed.

TV and radio stations are broadcasting solely Holocaust-related content, such as documentaries, interviews with survivors and melancholic songs.

The ceremony, attended by Israeli President Reuven #Rivlin and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, begun with the national flag lowered to half-mast.

" :Anti-Semitism and the persecution of the Jews are not a fad, it is a difficult chronic disease," said Rivlin. "We will forever pursue the blood of our brothers and sisters, which screams at us from within the earth. We will continue to pursue the deniers, those who want to forget, and those who want to blur history," he said.

In his address, #Netanyahu accused "the Arab world" of "inciting" against Israel and the Jewish people using means that are "worse than #Hitler and Gobles."

He also slammed as "anti-Semitic" a resolution by the UN Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) last year, in which the organization ignored the Jewish ties to the Temple Mount in East Jerusalem. The hilltop site is holy to both Jews and Muslims.

On Thursday morning, Israel's government will participate in a wreath-laying ceremony at the Yad Vashem, where names of Holocaust victims will be recited and a two-minute siren will be heard throughout #Israel.

Also on Thursday, over 10,000 young adults from over 40 countries around the world will gather in #Poland for the world's largest #Holocaust Commemoration, the 28th Annual March of the Living in the former death camp of #Auschwitz-Birkenau.

There's no business like Shoah Business...
In 1990, the plaques with the figure of 4 million at the International Monument at Birkenau were removed. It was not until 1995 that new plaques were placed at the International Monument with 20 metal plates inscribed in Yiddish, English and all the major languages of Europe; the plaques were set on granite slabs on the steps of the International Monument. The number of deaths at Auschwitz, according to each of the 20 metal plates, is now 1.5 million.

So who lied to the world all these years about the 6 million & why have they never been held to account? Why are the Holocaust myths implanted in the minds of our children in schools, books, & media around the world? And why have there been laws made in Europe to arrest people questioning the Jewish lies? If you want to know who controls you, just ask yourself who you cannot question or criticize.

"'The Occult Roots of Nazism: The Ariosophists of Austria and Germany, 1890-1935" is a book by Nicholas Goodrick-Clarke about Nazi occultism and Ariosophy, tracing some of its roots back to Esotericism in Germany and Austria between 1880 and 1945. The foreword is by Rohan Butler, who had written The Roots of National Socialism in the 1930s. The book is based on Goodrick-Clarke's 1982 Ph.D. thesis 'The Ariosophists of Austria and Germany 1890-1935: Reactionary political fantasy in relation to social anxiety'"

Young Diaspora Jews Learn About Holocaust Through Unique Israeli Perspective
+JNS.org, via +Algemeiner

Holocaust Remembrance Day, or Yom HaShoah in Hebrew, challenges Israelis to acknowledge, remember, and respect the impact of such a dark time in Jewish and global history. Foreigners who find themselves on holiday in Israel during this day of observance are oftent taken aback at how an entire country is able to come to a standstill and complete silence, while sirens wail marking the date.

The observance of Yom HaShoah doesn’t stop with the sirens. Educational programs, ceremonies, and intimate conversations with survivors and their families are just some of the ways in which Israel and Israelis recall the horrific days of the Holocaust. For Jewish American students at the Jewish National Fund-sponsored Alexander Muss High School in Israel, their experience is even more unique—the students learn about the Holocaust as Israeli students do.

AMHSI-JNF provides a semester abroad in Israel for American high school students grades 10-12. While students’ course load includes core classes, like math and science, they also learn much more. “We try very hard to get the students to strengthen their Jewish identity and their connection to Judaism through Israel, the land, and its history,” said Danny Stein, 31, a history teacher at AMHSI-JNF.

Glimpses of Jewish Life before the Holocaust

On the eve of WWII, the interwar Jewish world was creative and complex, a rich mosaic, full of change and hope for the future. Within a decade, most of Europe would be conquered by Nazi Germany. By 1945 two out of every three of these Jews were silenced forever.
The sights and sounds of this video are those of the Jews of Europe before the Holocaust. In their own words, through their diaries, letters and notebooks, and through their family films.

By Carolyn Yeager Caroline B. Glick* proclaimed last January (2014) that “International Holocaust Remembrance Day” on January 27 has not worked because it has not helped to reduce antisemitism but has made it worse! All who agree that the entire affair should be canceled as ineffective, raise your hand! Notice that the goal of “Holocaust Remembrance Day” is not, for Glick, primarily to memorialize the alleged victims but to reduce the occurrence ...

The Holocaust Without Jews
Attempts to universalize the specific suffering of Jews in the Shoah go hand in hand with efforts to de-legitimize the Jewish state
+James Kirchick, +Tablet Magazine

On Thursday, Israel will mark Holocaust Remembrance Day, Yom HaShoah. As has been the custom for over six decades, a 2-minute air raid siren will be blared across the entire country and citizens from all walks of life will interrupt their daily routines for a moment of solemn reflection. Jan. 27 of this year also marked the decade anniversary of the United Nations-designated International Holocaust Remembrance Day, which member states are encouraged to commemorate. Though an Israeli initiative, International Holocaust Remembrance Day has gradually been subjected to the universalizing prescriptions of those who would water down the particularly Jewish aspect of the Nazi extermination of the Jews.

The evolution of two different days of Holocaust commemoration and the ways they increasingly run counter to each other are symptomatic of the seizure of Jewish history and suffering for ulterior purposes. This victim displacement appropriates the most traumatic experience in Jewish history, pointedly erases the specificity of the events supposedly being commemorated, and then harshly chides Jews for inserting their own particularistic concerns into the discussion. At a certain point, these phenomena become a continuation of a specific form of oppression and erasure rather an antidote to “hatred.”

Imagine a remembrance of slavery that did not acknowledge the suffering of African-Americans—or a commemoration of the AIDS epidemic omitting the experiences of gay men. Such acts of dissociation would be inconceivable, the subjects of rightful denunciations and outraged protests. Yet in recent years, that is precisely what has been going on with regard to the Holocaust and its chief victims, the Jews. Last month, Britain’s National Union of Students (NUS)—which claims to represent some 7 million students across 600 campuses—debated whether it should even commemorate Holocaust Memorial Day. That this was a subject for argument is absurd enough; the actual proceedings were scandalous. “Of course there shouldn’t be anti-Semitism,” said a student speaking against the measure, offering the sort of throat-clearing assertion from which anti-Semitism almost inevitably follows. “But it’s not about one set of people.”

...Yet the Holocaust’s universal meanings are not inconsistent with an appreciation of its singularity, both in terms of process (the first and only time a modern state carried out an industrial-scale, mechanized mass-mass murder with the aim of exterminating an entire people) and victims (primarily, but not exclusively, Jews). Indeed, these unique aspects of the Holocaust complement one other in distinguishing the event from any other crime against humanity. Without independently acknowledging both the universality and the historicity of the Holocaust, we will fail to understand what happened, and to whom—and how to prevent such a tragedy from ever happening again, to anyone.
