For a while now, Google has been using AI and neural networks to teach robotic arms how to pick up objects by themselves. This week the company published additional research detailing how its software enables robots to learn from one another. Initially, Google’s robotics division built these machines with the intention to sell them to manufacturers, warehouse operators and others. Now, Bloomberg is reporting that executives at Alphabet have scrapped this plan because it failed Alphabet CEO Larry Page's "toothbrush test", which requires the company to only ship products that can be used daily by billions of people.
