There wasn't an agreement to begin with. Just noise and info ops in the media.

Mideast expert quoted below about my amendment on Hezbollah & U.S. millions going to Lebanon: "up to this point it was free money with no accountability...Now as is normally the case U.S. asking what is being done with this money to address U.S. interest in Lebanon"

For nearly a decade the U.S. military and the LAF have avoided that conversation. Thanks to , they will now have to have it.

In denying he himself was getting Lebanese citizenship, crony businessman Farouq Joud confirms not only that his sons were getting it, but also the reason behind it: “to render easier their travels to/from Syria, in order to manage their businesses, in light of unjust sanctions.”

This, from a recent article of mine, seems rather apt in light of the Lebanese government’s deals with Assad.

Ibrahim handled the coordination with Assad last summer to get the, uh, “ISIS and Nusra” fighters safe passage from the border, while the glorious LAF, using US munitions, was offering artillery and other support to Hezbollah. The insanity of the US Lebanon policy in a nutshell.

Handled by Hezbollah-ally Gen. Abbas Ibrahim — head of General Security, through whom the US shared intel with Hezbollah and who was feted in Washington. Remember kids, we must continue funding and strengthening Lebanon’s “state institutions.”

Last year, one of Assad’s Lebanese thugs complained about Nizar Asaad for his financial relations with the Hariri camp, who, of course, signed off on the decree offering citizenship to Assad’s cronies. Hariri’s been begging to get in on the reconstruction racket.

Also, two daughters of Nizar Asaad, a major regime financial figure (oil, cement, among many other ventures) and partner of Rami Makhlouf, were granted citizenship.
