The Apple iPhone was launched on the 29th of June 2007 and in these five years, 218 million units have been sold. That’s one great success story! It’s hard to imagine that this ‘simple’ (?) cell phone brought about so much change not only to its maker but to the world as a whole.

What is cost of putting a web site on the Internet?
Posted on July 1, 2012 under Answers, Hosting, Web Development | Leave a comment
I run a small shop in Black Mountain, NC for which I had a web site made through my cousin for free. How do I put the web site on the Internet and how much will it cost? I’m not wealthy but do want to keep up with the Joneses.
Jan Marie Claire
Jan Marie, welcome to the World Wide Web. The cost of putting your web site on the Internet can vary from $50 to about $200 annually which I’m sure was way lower than what you had imagined, right? I’ll even tell you about the free (yes, 100% gratis) option though I would dissuade you to going ahead with it. Anyway, let me explain in detail what these costs are and how you should go about getting your shop online!

Last night, with nothing to do, I thought of downloading songs from iTunes. Had come across some great artists via the excellent iPad app, Aweditorium – Alexi Murdoch, Freelance Whales, Blind Pilot and more. Once my hunger for the new was satisfied, I started digging out some classics. Now by classics I mean those 1960s “free love” songs.

What is the difference between a web browser and a search engine?
Posted on June 25, 2012 under Answers, Search Engines | 1 Comment
Wondering if a web browser and search engine are the same – quite sure they are not! I am kind of new to the web and would be grateful if you can tell me the difference between a web browser and a search engine. I hope this is not a dumb question.
Robert Paliotti
No question is dumb, only people… especially those who don’t ask!
Anyway, to answer your question – a web browser and a search engine are different entities; the former is a program while the latter is a web service. But that said, they work hand-in-hand to help you get the maximum out of the Internet. More »

Most Mondays are disgusting, and probably, so is your weekend web browsing history. Don’t say it isn’t. Let’s be fair now. If you were to look back at your life, wouldn’t you wish, you deleted the history before passing the computer to your friend?

Search only web page title using Google
Posted on June 20, 2012 under Google, Internet Tips, Search Engines | 1 Comment
I have a web site with thousands of products each of which has its own web page. I’ve taken care to optimize the pages for search engines (Google mainly) and have introduced keywords in the page title, description and heading. How can I search only the web page title? I need to do this when adding new products to avoid duplicates. By the way, I run the Google Site Search on my web site.
Vernon McIntosh
It’s great to know that you have taken special care to make your online web store search engine friendly by placing keywords in the page titles and description. However, don’t forget the main contents of the page – make sure the keyword also appears there. Anyway, it’s very easy to search only the web page titles with Google. All you need to know is the special syntax.
