I have tabled a motion for tomorrow calling for the House of Lords to return on 2 January not 7th so we can debate & vote on Mrs May’s Brexit deal a week earlier than the government proposes. Totally unacceptable that we should be on holiday until 2nd week of Jan in this crisis

I’ve changed my mind on EU freedom of movement as I’ve developed better understanding of its history, rules & operation. I used to think there was a case for national ‘emergency breaks’ on FOM. I no longer do so. FOM is a huge benefit to Britain & the EU & it should remain intact

There is a basic test of morality in doing any job, including as a civil servant. ‘No deal’ Brexit planning doesn’t pass it - & it’s illegitimate anyway because it clearly isn’t the will of Parliament but rather a ruse by the government to coerce Parliament
