An oversized slipcased reprint of Claremont and Sienkiewicz's groundbreaking run on The New Mutants. As a kid, I had been reading the series since the first issue - it was my favorite book at the time. The sudden change in art was a shock to me and t ...more

I picked this book up after listening to Smith's NPR interview. A very interesting story, but the main character frusrtated me with her inability to move forward with her life. It's as though she was completely ineffective at getting anything she wan ...more

Henson was a genius. He accomplished quite a lot in the time he was with us. Reading about his 1990 memorial service brought me to tears.

I *think* there are other Muppet histories so don't be surprised if this book skips over some Muppet productions.

Not bad - interesting enough to a "space fan", kind of a beach read book, but some of the injection of alternate history tidbits felt forced.

John Milton
“I will not deny but that the best apology against false accusers is silence and sufferance, and honest deeds set against dishonest words.”
John Milton

James A. Garfield
“It has occurred to me that the thing you have, that all men have enough of, is perhaps the thing that you care for the best, and that is your leisure - the leisure you have to think; the leisure you have to be let alone; the leisure you have to throw the plummet into your mind, and sound the depth and dive for things below.”
James A. Garfield, The Works Of James Abram Garfield

C.S. Lewis
“The term is over: the holidays have begun. The dream is ended: this is the morning.”
C.S. Lewis, The Last Battle

William Shakespeare
“The quality of mercy is not strain'd,
It droppeth as the gentle rain from heaven
Upon the place beneath: it is twice blest;
It blesseth him that gives and him that takes:
'Tis mightiest in the mightiest: it becomes
The throned monarch better than his crown;
His sceptre shows the force of temporal power,
The attribute to awe and majesty,
Wherein doth sit the dread and fear of kings;
But mercy is above this sceptred sway;
It is enthroned in the hearts of kings,
It is an attribute to God himself;
And earthly power doth then show likest God's
When mercy seasons justice.”
William Shakespeare, The Merchant of Venice

Haruki Murakami
“The world is a huge space, but the space that will take you in - and it doesn't have to be very big - is nowhere to be found. You seek a voice, but what do you get? Silence. You look for silence, but guess what? All you hear over and over and over is the voice of this omen. And sometimes this prophetic voice pushes a secret switch hidden deep inside your brain.

Your heart is like a great river after a long spell of rain, spilling over its banks. All signposts that once stood on the ground are gone, inundated and carried away by that rush of water. And still the rain beats down on the surface of the river. Every time you see a flood like that on the news you tell yourself: That's it. That's my heart.”
Haruki Murakami, Kafka on the Shore
