Never have I ever related more to a fictional character than Anne. This is just the most adorable, heartwarming book ever and I honestly don't think I ever read it before this week! I have the movies practically memorized and they follow the books perfectly, so there was nothing terribly new in this story. The only obvious difference was that Gilbert isn't in the book as much.

But seeing Anne ramble on and on for pages more than made up for that. I just have to stick some of my favorite quotes in here:
So if you've seen the movies, you're not really missing any of the book. But this story will never get old and now it can go on my favorites list! Because I seriously am Anne:

But seeing Anne ramble on and on for pages more than made up for that. I just have to stick some of my favorite quotes in here:
"When people mean to be good to you, you don't mind very much when they're not quite–always."
"One can't stay sad very long in such an interesting world, can one?"
"Isn't it a wonderful morning? The world looks like something God imagined for His own pleasure, doesn't it? ...I'm so glad I live in a world where there are white frosts, aren't you?"
"Isn't it nice to think that tomorrow is a new day with no mistakes in it yet?"
"It's nicer to think dear, pretty thoughts and keep them in one's heart like treasures. I don't like to have them laughed at or wondered over."
"Oh, it's delightful to have ambitions. I'm so glad I have such a lot. And there never seems to be any end to them– that's the best of it. Just as soon as you attain to one ambition you see another one glittering higher up still. It does make life so interesting."
"I like people who make me love them. It saves me so much trouble in making myself love them."
"Ruby Gillis says when she grows up she's going to have ever so many beaus on the string and have them all crazy about her; but I think that would be too exciting. I'd rather just have one in his right mind."
"Dear old world... you are very lovely, and I am glad to be alive in you."
So if you've seen the movies, you're not really missing any of the book. But this story will never get old and now it can go on my favorites list! Because I seriously am Anne:

These were some of the first books I ever read. They prompted my love of reading at a young age.

@Stephanie that's so fun!! I think I had some kind of lame abridged children's version of this... children's book haha I'm not sure. It had pictures :) I wish I had read this sooner!
Anne Shirley was my childhood idol. Her adventures carried me through many difficult times. She inspired me to accept myself, never settle for less and seek out the answers to my own curiousities. Fantastic female character ❤
I didn't read Anne of Green Gables until I graduated college, but she's one of my favorite fictional people now!
I just read last night that Netflix is making a series about Anne. I think the article said it will premiere in 2017. I love the books, & I love the movies from the 80's, so I'm in!! I'm so glad you enjoyed the book!! :)
OMG! This book saved me from a broken heart in 2009. It was so funny and so positive that thinking about my own bitterness is almost a sin. I hope you get to read all the 8 books on this series. Next is Anne of Avonlea and last is Rilla of Ingleside. L.M. Montgomery is just love!!! I read Anne of Green Gables series and Harry Potter series alternately every year. Like this year was HP, 2017 is Anne. I'm sorry, I am talking too much. It's just that everyone who gave Anne 5 stars is a kindred spirit. XOXO

I've had the series sitting on my shelf forever that I almost forgot I hadn't actually read them... so this is really exciting to actually get to them now! And I love the idea of reading favorite series on alternating years
