Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë
Jane Eyre
Read in January 2015
*3.5*

I HAVE VERY MIXED FEELINGS ABOUT THIS.

I really REALLY enjoyed the first half of the book, mainly because I love stories of orphans and/or boarding schools, so young Jane was somebody I enjoyed reading about. From a young age she was very hea... Read full review

Raeleen Lemay It's just so long and slow and I need something more exciting right now! ERGHH I WISH I COULD JUST READ IT.

Ariel THAT WAS MY PROBLEM.
I looooooooove the story, and the characters are wonderful, but the writing is SO DARN SLOW. EVERYTHING IS HAPPENING IN SLOW MOTION!

Alessandra I picked up the book for a holiday with my parents in a spa, there wasn't internet in the rooms so I spend my time reading it and I finished in a week. Starting may seem slow but trust me once you get in the middle part you will not put it down!

Michelle Raven I listened too it on Spotify.

Lara I'm glad you went through it... the thing with classics is they don't need action, they're about something else ;)

Leslie I didn't like Pride and Prejudice either! Why does everyone love it?! I feel like my emotions are broken or something.

Marija Popiežius same here! I enjoyed the part about her childhood and years in a boarding school so much and had such high hopes about what comes next, but with each chapter I was struggling only harder and harder through the book =((

Jenni Burke I just read it as well and feel the same, but for me, it was the descriptions. I'm a very character driven reader and the portions where the characters are interacting, I ate up and loved, but it took sooooo long to get to those points and I found myself speed reading.

Mike that is interesting, as I had a very different take on it. I found the beginning good, but the middle part was what I found to be the best. Not the courtship aspects that you mentioned, but in the interplay between Mr. Rochester and Jane during that period is what I really loved reading about...

Sara I like Jane Eyre but I wouldn't classify it as life-changing, or enlightening either. It's a good book but I think that people exaggerate how good it is. I read Pride and Prejudic and I can't believe it's in the top ten books of all time of some list I read a while ago. They're both good but not great.
