This book tackles the issue of racism (among other things) in 1960's Jackson, Mississippi. I cannot stress this enough but The Help is seriously one of the most important story I've ever read. Since it's about civil rights movement, I first thoug...

Gosh I LOVE YOUR REVIEW EVIE!!!! I just love it. I've seen reviews that bashed this book, well really, bashed the author of the book. They claimed the book was hypocritical and called it more or less stupid and fake. Because they claimed the author is white and wasn't born in the 1960's, so how could she know what it was really like then? How could she know what it was like for those women? I don't think that's enough to discredit the book at all. In fact it makes no sense to me. I loved the movie so much too!!!(I really love Emma stone haha). I picked this up once to read, but dropped it before I reached chapter one because sometimes bad reviews do have the power to put you off a book. But after reading your review, I'm convinced I want to read this. I have to! Thanks Eve Xoxo ❤

I haven't watched the movie yet. Just a part of it. But everyone says the movie really really follows the book's storyline. Then you will enjoy this ^_^ 100% guarantee!

Thank you, Anne! :))
I guess I'm gonna agree to disagree with those people. Okay, okay I was skeptical when I found out Stockett is white, but then there's a lengthy note from her at the end of the book where she said she grows up right in Jackson, and used to have a black maid, Demetrie. She witnessed firsthand the way colour people were being treated like. And well, it's legit. It's enough to convince me that this book isn't stereotypical. If things were already like that in her time, just how much worse was it back in the 60's? D:
I haven't watched the movie till the end (Emma Stone tho ♡) but from what I've gathered from other people, the movie really follows the book's storyline. So even if you don't read this.... I don't think you'll be missing out much?? x)

Oh no, Eve! I'm definitely going to read this! I mean, you know how it is with books and movies. The feeling is different. It's ultimate with books. Movies feel like snippets and books feel like the whole story to me. I have to read this soon. If the movie was that amazing, how much more the book?? Ahhhh. I'm getting jittery just thinking about it haha. And I agree with what you said about this story being legit too!
