Alienated has to be one of my favorite YA books. It was sweet, charming, creative, funny, and an all-around feel-good story (imagine if Rory Gilmore hosted an alien exchange student – delightful, right?). Invaded was just as good, and I honestly wish the wait hadn’t been so long between it and United, as it kind of stole my momentum and excitement (that’s what I get for hounding for early copies, I suppose). At any rate, while United was an enjoyable end to the series, it didn’t blow me away qui Alienated has to be one of my favorite YA books. Invaded was just as good, and I honestly wish the wait hadn’t been so long between it and United, as it kind of stole my momentum and excitement (that’s what I get for hounding for early copies, I suppose). At any rate, while United was an enjoyable end to the series, it didn’t blow me away quite like its predecessors.

Some of the things I found charming in the first two books struck me as a bit silly in United. I imagine a lot of that had to do with the fact that United was the only one I listen to on audio. The narrator made the aliens sound unintelligent and immature, which sapped a lot of my enjoyment from the story. “Cheesy” is the word I’m searching for. It was cheesy.

There were also a lot of things I accepted in the first two books that didn’t work for me in the third. The idea that a teenage girl could have so much political power and all of the government resources of earth took a backseat while her and her boyfriend fought an earth annihilation threat BY THEMSELVES was… stupid. It screamed YA logic like crazy and left me feeling disappointed (and old).

Perhaps I’m just cynical. And perhaps I’m a little burnt out on YA in general. I’ve definitely been craving the more robust storytelling of adult novels lately. It certainly doesn’t help matters that I just finished Corey’s Babylon’s Ashes – a killer space opera series with loads of politics and moving parts (also one of the best series I’ve ever read). No, I’m sure that didn’t help at all.

The positive take away from United was how much I liked the sweet romance that blossomed throughout the trilogy between two really great main characters. Aside from the weird circumstances surrounding my experience with United, I still am a fan of Melissa Landers as an author and I’m looking forward to diving into her Starflight duology. Overall, if you like YA science fiction at all, Alienated is a must-read.

Definitely my favorite book in this series! I'm honestly so sad this trilogy is over.
This book was the most action-packed of the three, was the least predictable one and most importantly: Aelyx and Cara were together again after being apart for so long in book 2! So, only improvements if you compare it to Invaded!

A very quick, sweet and to the point conclusion to Aelyx and Cara's story. I didn't LOVE it but I really enjoyed seeing their story arc complete :) 3.75-4 stars

I think this is the first time that the last book in a series has been my favourite. But it's true! I loved United way more than the first two books, don't get me wrong, they were great, but this one just tied everything together and had such a great storyline that I could not put the book down. It was all so amazing, I'm very sad that the series is over.

We pick up the story with Cara and Aelyx setting out to the colony. We pick up the story with Cara and Aelyx setting out to the colony. The place where they are supposed to get their happily ever after among their fellow humans and L'ehirs. But when the ancient race of Aribol reach out to them, giving them the option of severing the contact between the two planets or being destroyed, Cara and Aelyx must fight for their life together as well as the safety of both of their planets.

I am so happy with the way this book turned out. All the questions you've had in the previous books about Jackson and Aisley, Cara's brother, what happens to Serene now that David has passed away? All those question will be answered in this book, with some crazy action that will keep you on your toes.

The romance in this book does not disappoint. After having the distance between Cara and Aelyx in the last book, it was such a relief to see them together in this one, working side by side to create a future for themselves. While I loved reading about the two of them, because they just seem like a married couple already, what I really enjoyed reading about was how Serene was dealing with the passing of David, as well as the new budding romance between Aelyx and Cara's siblings. Wink wink.

The world-builidng was about the same level as the other books, this time we get to see lots from the colony and a few new places on Earth as well as some space ships, which was alright. It was very well written but definitely not the main focus of the book.

Overall, I loved the action, the storyline, the characters. Basically everything. I loved how the author decided to end the story and I will definitely be reading more from this author. I highly recommend this series to everyone who loves YA Fantasy books, you won't be disappointed.

Nice finish to previous two books.I cannot say which book among three was my favorite but I liked the first one probably a little bit more than its two sequels; however I’m satisfied with all three of them. All three are entertaining and kept me interested enough that I read them.

The stakes are increased in this final instalment, with an armageddon kind of story, with the humans and the L'eirh both being under threat from a third alien race, who seem to be aeons ahead in technology. Of course, there is nothing better than death threats to bring everyone together.

So... it's over. This is a bittersweet feeling. I feel accomplished that I finished another good trilogy but at the same time I don't think I was ready for my adventures with these characters to be over and I think the author wasn't ready neither. It was a nice conclusion, super fast paced and I really liked it. Sadly I could tell the author was told to put an end to the story within 300 pages and it felt really rushed at times. Wow, I'm pretty disappointed. This has been a young YA sci-fi series with very teen characters but this final instalment wasn't what I expected. It was somewhat repetitive in terms of the drama from the previous two books and the angst felt over-manufactured. I've liked both Aeylx and Cara in this series but even they frayed my nerves in United. The baddies were over-baddy! I definitely prefer Melissa Landers' more mature books in the same genre.

My expectations for this last book weren't too high. But I was pleasantly surprised. I had NOT expected the book to take this turn. And I'm glad it did! This book was probably my favorite in the series. I loved these characters, and I loved how new bonds and relationships formed in this last book.

After those two previous excruciatingly terrible books, I was skeptical it was a good idea to pick this up. I had really really really low expectation that this book would be good. I didn't pick this book up immediately after the second book because I couldn't do that to myself. Let's just say I took a break. I had a decent time with other books and I was back with this one with only intention to finish it, let alone enjoy it. But it was different from the previous two and it entertained me.

I'm just going to admit that the writing was the same, it sucked. I did not like the wordings used because it was unable to pull me in; I was not really into the usage of long description of a certain place and other characters' stupidity. To me, that was unnecessary. There was romantic lines and lines and lines that were just too much to take, I wanted to gag (I rolled my eyes loads of times). Furthermore, I did not need that 10 pages for what happened in the end because everything was solved and all I needed was some light-hearted paragraphs. But before we got to that, there were some unreasonable scenes (which I think would be IMPOSSIBLE to happen, but that's what the book said so ok).

This is the part where I said this book was an improvement. It's the plot. What happened in this book felt like a sci-fi book, more fightings, actions, and killings, which I really liked. There were more involvements with technology and other stuff from the L'eihr planet. I wouldn't say it's a good sci-fi book, but it's getting there. Nevertheless, I thought that most of what Cara's squad was doing felt senseless and unreasonable, or should I say incredulous. Also, there was less cringe-worthy romances because whatever Cara and Aelyx were doing felt normal and more mature.

"The connection closed with Cara's eyes. "No matter how hard I try, sometimes it feels like I can't do anything right. Your opinion matters the most to me, so when you brought up my mistakes on the colony, it really stung.""

There was a major character improvement in the book. From the beginning, I've never actually liked Cara. She started out as an annoying person who was supposed to be brilliant. And now, she took her time to care for her planet and less of Aelyx. She improved to me more mature and less whiny. Regardless, I was also annoyed with whatever she wrote on her blog because it was more cringy than anything. Aelyx remained an asshole, but less of an asshole. He didn't support Cara and look at a reasonable way to solve things. I still don't like him as a character. I started to respect the romance between Cara and Aelyx even more now that they had less time together, but respected each other.

Overall: it's a decent book, I wouldn't read it again, but I understand the development. Though, I wouldn't recommend this to everyone, if you're talking about this book alone. But if you're talking about the whole trilogy, then I will suggest you keep your time and money for other books. ...more

To be honest, I'm disappointed by the cover. But it's only Cara's side that bothers me, and it's only one main thing. The orange. First, if compared to the other covers it just looks wrong. It feels wrong. The agmoshere that is presented is kind of cartoonish rather than YA-ish. Thank God this was loads better than the last book. I was really concerned going in to this because the second book was such a let down, but this was so good. Aelyx and Cara are so cute together, and there were a lot of nice moments between them throughout the entire book, even when they were arguing sometimes.
