Interestingly, I bought and tried my first pumpkin spice latte from Starbucks last week even though I’ve been making them at home for years. I hated it, and I’m not sure whether that’s because the barista who made it for me did a terrible job, or if I’m just used to the way I make them at home. To me, a good latte when sweetened should be subtly spiced and here I have two recipes for you so that you can make the perfect pumpkin spice latte at home.

These Banana Oat Pancakes are healthy and absolutely delicious with only 5 ingredients! They are naturally gluten free and are the perfect way to get your pancake fix!

The whole family is together now. On Thursday my cat arrived by plane from Ontario and it is really starting to set in that we live here. Molly (the cat) has made herself at home, Ellie (the puppy) isn’t bothering her too much, and Paul and I are happy with our funny animal family.

Grainy Mustard Potato Salad

This potato salad is packed with flavour combining fresh chives, hard-boiled eggs, and a creamy, garlicky grainy mustard dressing.

The amount of fresh produce that I’ve dealing with this past week is blowing my mind. We had over 45 peaches to use up, a giant bag of various spicy peppers, more cucumbers than is normal for this world, and whole heck of a lot of lettuce.

And with all of this produce hanging around I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to buy a big bag of new potatoes that I saw at the market. They were too pretty! And I have a “thing” for grainy mustard in potato salad, so I went with it.

Strawberry Balsamic Pie

This is the first thing that I baked in my new oven and BOY was it was a show-stopper.

I hesitated writing “strawberry balsamic pie” as the title because really, this is just a regular strawberry pie without any frills. Think of the balsamic as lemon juice. All it does in this recipe is compliment the flavour of the strawberries, so if you’re feeling scared, don’t be! Strawberries and balsamic belong together!

Good thing it takes a little time to make!…and I’m on vacation without an ice cream maker (follow along on Instagram!), so realistically, there is no ice cream being made until I’m back home in September.

What My Best Girlfriends Have Taught Me

When I talk about my best friends to the new people I meet, they genuinely can’t believe that I still hang out with the same girls that I did in high school. We don’t live in the same city, but we’ve always made an effort over the years to see each other. These women have taught me so much about life, about myself, about love…and now that I’m moving away (like, a 6-hour plane ride away) for good, I’ve been reflecting on these friendships more than ever.
