Booklisting Levels
Open Merchant
In an "open merchant" format, authors &
publishers can list with booksXYZ and sell elsewhere, or they can sell
through us. If a publisher chooses the latter, we:
- generate a unique web address for each of your titles that can be used in
e-mails, e-newsletters, websites, and the like (e.g., Audubon: A
Retrospective);
- provide tools for instantly and constantly updating your
information;
- provide tools for marketing and promoting your titles;
- process credit cards through our secure server;
- provide accounting records;
- and most importantly, provide an on-line platform that booklisters and
readers know they can trust.
In addition, booklisters offering more than two titles
are provided with our PrivateShelf™ feature, a unique web address that
will list only their books (e.g, The Center for Louisiana Studies, Coaches
Choice). For publishers with more than 25 titles, we can also design a
custom navigation bar, as can be viewed down the right side of these two
examples.
We offer four levels of listing for titles on booksXYZ,
and a website service. Each level offers more services and benefits than the
levels following it.
Full Service Listings are for books sold through
our website for a $10 one-time fee per book (to a maximum of $100 for
booklisters with multiple titles, i.e., all books after the first 10 titles
are listed at no additional charge), with 85% of the sale price and all
shipping charges coming to the author/booklister. All of our profits go to
education nationwide.
Please note that Full Service listings sell at over
10 times the rate as the other three listings.
Full Service Listings provide all basic bibliographic
information: Title, Subtitle, Author, Cover Type, ISBN, Dewey Decimal
number, Library of Congress number, Price, Number of Pages, Cover type,
Shipping, Three Subject Codes, Binding, Paper Weight, if Dustcovered, if
Acid Free Paper, if Coated Paper, if Neutral pH Paper, Copyright Year,
Keywords for search engine optimization, a Brief Summary, number of BW and
Color Illustrations, Recommended Readers' Ages, and the Printer/Publisher.
Full Service listings also provide two book cover graphics: a 20K graphic in
the general listings with other books, and a 40K graphic in the separate
book page. Also, the separate book window will include a 500 word synopsis,
a 500 word excerpt, and a 500 word compendium of reviews and comments from
critics and/or readers.
Search results for Full Service titles appear like
this, and includes the cover, the title, author, cover type, and a brief
description.

Basic Listings are for books sold through our
website for no up-front fee, with 85% of the sale price and all shipping
charges coming to the author/booklister. For Basic Listings, booksXYZ
provides the same services listed under "Open Merchant", above.
All profits above overhead costs will go toward education nationwide.
Basic Listings contain all "Affinity"
information, but without links to other sales websites. The author's name
may serve as a link to the author's booksXYZ website, or to any other author
website where the book is not sold. The title of the book will be a link to
a separate book page that shows Title; Author; Price; Shipping Costs; Total
costs; ISBN; Dewey; Printer/Publisher; Category; Subcategory; No. of Pages;
Book Binding; Cover Type; Paper Weight; if Dustcovered; Author's Personal
Website; and Recommended Readers' Ages.
As noted previously however, Full Service listings
generate over 10 times the sales that Basic Sales do.
Basic Listings contain all basic bibliographic
information as listed for Full Service listings. The author's name may serve
as a link to the author's website.
The Search Results for Basic Listings are similar to
those for Full Service Listings, but do not include a cover thumbnail, nor a
brief description.

Affinity Listings are listed with booksXYZ
without cost but sold elsewhere, with some portion of the sale price coming
to APSE and AEE.
Currently we are enrolled in Affinity programs at
Barnes & Noble,
Books-a-Million, and
Amazon. If your book is listed with any
other affinity program, please e-mail us, and we will try to accommodate
you.
Affinity Listings contain all basic bibliographic
information as listed under Full Service Listing, plus at least one link to
an affinity website to which we subscribe.
In addition, affinity sales activity will place titles
in booksXYZ sales rankings and best-seller lists.

Nonsale Listings are books listed with us without
cost, but sold elsewhere, with no proceeds coming to APSE and AEE.
Nonsale Listings contain all basic bibliographic
information as listed under Full Service Listing, and a link to a website
where the book can be purchased. If the book is not sold through a website,
the author's name will permit visitors to e-mail the author without being
able to see the author's e-mail address.
