After much struggle I have managed to install an Android M on my Sony C5503 (a.k.a Xperia ZR). The ROM is a Cyanogenmod build and I have chosen it mainly for the Privacy Guard feature that it employs. However, this ROM is based on stock Android which does not have any Mirrorlink protocol implementation.

I was reading on the issue and it seems only proprietary ROMs are likely to have Mirrorlink support due to some hefty fees that need to be paid in order to license the underlying technology.

Hence my question: Can I have the best of both worlds ? If there is no such custom ROM readily available then maybe I could bake something myself starting from a proprietary ROM - root it, change the kernel and other files, install the Privacy Guard app from Cyanogenmod or equivalent and be on my merry way ?
