Watch Pokémon Go interrupt an ISIS briefing at the State Department

A State Department spokesman was delivering the daily briefing to a group of reporters when he called one out for playing Pokémon Go, CNN reports. "You're playing the Pokémon thing right there, aren't you," spokesman John Kirby said, interrupting himself in the middle of an update about ongoing efforts by the anti-ISIS coalition to fight the terror group. "I'm just keeping an eye on it," the reporter responded. After finishing the briefing, Kirby looked back at the reporter to ask if he got one. "No, no the signal’s not very good," the reporter said. Called the "Gamer Grandma" by her fans, Curry has made a splash in a community typically dominated by young voices. Watch 15 minutes of new Paper Mario: Color Splash gameplay

Mario's next adventure, Paper Mario: Color Splash, sends the persistent plumber to a haunted hotel run by Toads, as seen in new gameplay from the upcoming Wii U title captured from San Diego Comic-Con. The fresh footage, which runs more than 15 minutes, shows Mario — armed with a pair of hammers, one of which helps recolor the game's environment — dealing with a host of paranormal problems. Luigi was apparently too busy to pick up the phone when the residents of Dark Bloo Inn put out the call for help, so Paper Mario is forced to pick up the slack. Check out the video above for a sneak peek of the mysterious "it" that everyone wants and for a look at a breakdancing pig that deals powerful damage to Bowser's minions. Since the game uses the Wii U GamePad as part of the card-based...

Amazon's revival of The Tick looks weird, debuts in August

Amazon Studios’ reboot of The Tick is coming to Amazon Video next month, along with two other comedy pilots, and our first glimpse of Peter Serafinowicz’s take on the character is, well, interesting. The new Tick will be a live-action show, just like the short-lived Fox series from 2001. Both shows, as well as the 1994 animated series, are based on the comic book character created by Ben Edlund in 1986. Edlund is an executive producer on the Amazon revival, along with Barry Josephson and Barry Sonnenfeld; all three were executive producers on the original show 15 years ago. Here’s the synopsis of The Tick from Amazon: In a world where superheroes have been real for decades, an underdog accountant with zero powers comes to realize his city is owned by a global super villain...

Overwatch's latest patch brings Ana to PS4 and more

Overwatch players on PlayStation 4 can now play support sniper Ana Amari through a patch released today. If you've done your homework, you'll know that Ana is one of the original members of the Overwatch strike team and also Pharah's mother. A number of hero balancing updates have also been rolled out; self-healing abilities now charge ultimate attacks. This, however, means that the cost for ultimates has been adjusted accordingly per character. Mercy's Resurrect ability, for example, will need to charge 30 percent more than before. The long-awaited D.Va update is also included. This adds an invulnerability to her own Self-Destruct and a one-second cooldown for her Defense Matrix. Similar to last week's MOBAwatch Brawl, Competitive Play matches will now allow your team only one of...

Hey Arnold! movie will premiere on Nickelodeon next Thanksgiving

Hey Arnold! creator Craig Bartlett has announced that the newest movie based on his beloved cartoon series, Hey Arnold! The Jungle Movie, would debut next Thanksgiving. On a San Diego Comic-Con panel celebrating 25 years of NickToons, Bartlett said that they've started production on the film and showed off some of the concept art. Slight changes have been made to Arnold and his crew to modernize their looks — the last time Hey Arnold! had something new was in 2002 for the Hey Arnold! film — but Bartlett said he thinks fans will get a kick out of just how meta the movie is. "It's very meta and it answers just about every fan question I've ever gotten from fans over the years," Bartlett said. "The biggest question the movie will answer is who Arnold's parents are and what happened to...

Pro gamers called out in latest CSGO betting site controversy (correction)

Several members of FaZe Clan, a hugely popular professional gaming team known for playing shooters, have been called out for a lack of disclosure on promotional videos for gambling site CSGO Wild. YouTuber HonorTheCall compiled evidence pointing to a previous obfuscation of the group's relationship to CSGO Wild in the video above, much of which has been addressed in a statement by the sponsor, which is set to shut down operations at the end of the week. Among those involved are Noran "FaZe Rain" Shat, according to HonorTheCall, who previously helped expose YouTubers Trevor "Tmartn" Martin and Tom "Syndicate" Cassell as having an undisclosed stake in a site they promoted. Until recently, some of Shat's videos of his CSGO Wild winnings lacked notice that they had been sponsored by the...

Telltale details The Walking Dead's third season in new screenshots

Telltale’s The Walking Dead returns this fall for its third season, and the studio is designing it to work just as well if you’re new to the series as if you’ve played everything to this point, the company said during a Comic-Con International panel today. Now known as The Walking Dead: The Telltale Series, the game picks up with our hero, Clementine, in her early teens — and missing half of her left ring finger. She is one of two playable characters, along with a new survivor named Javier. Telltale noted in a press release that "you may not be playing each character within the same frame of time." Just like Clementine was Lee Everett’s ward in the first season of the game, she is now protecting a young boy named A.J. People who have played Season Two will recognize A.J. as the son of...
