I just wanted to say that the language my bf’s family speaks doesn’t help me in my everyday life, it’s not ‘the language of the country I live in’. But again, I understand the main message

Yes, but Switzerland has 4 official languages and I never lived in the area of my bf’s family. But I get what you want to say

No offense taken! In my culture it’s normal to have a close relationship w the bf’s family, because if things get serious, you will meet a lot (for example, through the grandchild and on holidays).

Yes, you’re right in that I’m not religious.  Education: I’m more educated than most of them, yes. I don’t know if this matters to them. I feel like they don’t really care about me. They never really asked about my schools. Yes, my bf was completely oblivious. But I guess coldness from the family is normal to him

yes, that's true that they have racist roots (I know they talked s. about black people)
I'm not from the Balkan area, but I'm not sure they distinguish that much :D maybe for them all eastern europe is Balkan
