This is why governorships and state legislature elections are so critical for effecting state and local policy changes. Our wins yesterday show that tides are changing, and the fewer seats the GOP controls in state governments, the better we can root out disastrous voter ID laws

There are special elections called when elected officials take new jobs, retire, get caught in a scandal, pass away, etc.

In 2018 all 435 US house seats are up for grabs.

Washington State has special elections coming up in November 2017, which is very important since DEMs can gain a state trifecta with a victory. We'll have more info as it gets closer, but we're focusing on each election as it happens.

Dems are still a minority in this chamber, but this election is a step closer to flipping it entirely :)

Each state has its own mini congress. This is an election for one of those seats that has never gone DEM in its entire history. It went for Trump 51-44 and went DEM for the first time ever, today.

I'm not sure how many we need, or how many exist, but this isn't one of them. Our goal is to make Congress blue and we have thousands of passionate members fighting for our cause.

Iraq War veteran pursues run for Yoder’s seat, sets up likely Democratic primary fight by sparty09 in BlueMidterm2018

While historically a red district, this is one that has been trending less red for the last several election cycles:

  • 2012: GOP 68.5 - LIB 31.5 (no DEM on ticket)

  • 2014: GOP 60 - DEM 40

  • 2016: GOP 51 - DEM 40.6 - LIB 8.1

Trends indicate the incumbent is pretty unpopular and this is a seat we should absolutely try for.

Wow this is as swingy a district as it gets.

  • 2016: DEM lost 48.9-47.7

  • 2014: DEM won 49-45.7

Give 'em hell Kara! Perhaps she could come by for a Q&A? /u/sparty09 do you know anyone on the campaign?

A note to everyone casually following along: the new voter registration period is now over, meaning now it's all hands on deck for GOTV!

Absentee voting has already begun, but in person voting begins May 30.

We can do this!!
