FA to interview Jurgen Klinsmann, Sam Allardyce remains England job front runner by wayv__ in soccer

It'd be rather a step up for him, and even if he'd shown he was ready for it, I can't see him coping with the English press given how sensitive he gets over innocuous tweets.

Mancini about Yaya - "I can say that he’s still one of the best midfielders in the world, but now I think there’s no hope of seeing him with us,” by Mattazo in MCFC

[–]ibpants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know. If he throws a piss-fit and ends up forced to do keepie-uppie on a traffic island on Ashton New Road, then so be it - that's his choice to make. Again though, all I can tell you with certainty about Yaya's personality is that it got him from the ASEC Mimosas academy to the highest levels of the sport, so I have to assume that he's capable of pushing himself to be successful.

The way I see it, Yaya wasn't exactly unique last season. I think we have to forgive a handful of players who struggled to find that motivation to perform at their very best, and I'm okay (if not exactly jumping for joy) if Yaya is among them.

Everything is in place here for him to push himself to be successful if that's what he still wants, and if he's deciding to stay, then hopefully it's because that is what he wants.

I expect we'll be keeping him at this point, and I'm okay with that.

I'm not really convinced by the idea that his legs have gone. He could probably use more rests than he's had in recent years, but Yaya last season looked more or less like the Yaya of every other season just with much fewer of those spectacular moments where he decides to take the game by the scruff of the neck.

It could be physical deterioration, but to me it suggests more a lack of motivation. I don't know Yaya personally, but he's reached the top of the game so clearly he's got some amount of professional drive in him, and between the fan sentiment from last season, and the fact that Pep didn't see a use for him at Barca I'm backing him to use that as motivation to prove people wrong.

"Okay Leroy, smile. Txiki, maybe rather than smiling you could lean menacingly across the table while holding the sort of all-purpose facial expression you might typically expect to find on a Jim Henson creation... Yeah, just like that."

Yeah, there are some tapping up laws that say you need permission or something. The fact is I haven't felt the need to familiarise myself with those rules because every club I'm aware of circumvents them by talking with the players' "representatives" nudge, nudge, wink, wink.

I wanted to quote 2Unlimited, but it looks like you're right (article 18, paragraph 2), and yet /u/domalino also appears to be right since everyone (including the official website) said it's a 6-year-deal.

Now, I did find something about Fabregas signing an 8-year-deal with Arsenal back in 2006, which the Guardian explained as a 5-year-contract with a non-binding 'option' to extend, so I wonder if that's what we have with Kev.

What's the current situation on enes unal? by ksarisoy in MCFC

[–]ibpants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was, and he doesn't have anything else to prove at the level of the Dutch second division, but the gap between that and Premier League is sizeable, and unless he's really impressing in training I'd imagine we'll see him take a loan that bridges that gap somewhat.

Thanks I'll look it up as soon as I have sound. Somehow I hadn't heard of that.

Oh man. I almost feel guilty about how lucky I get with Diva cards. From my first pro in S1 (Rare AJ Lee) I've never had anything like the problems so many others complain about, and by the end of this RTG I'll have a grand total of two WM Divas, both pros.

I haven't seen or heard how he's doing in first team training, but it'd be quite a leap from the Dutch second division, especially after his Genk loan was a bit of a bust.

Another loan is just an assumption on my part based on what little I know.

He's in first team training right now. I'd expect a loan of some sort but nothing is confirmed yet.

The times I've reached the final of WM KOTR have all seen me finish around 7th or so in the qualifying round. It's not a strategy on my part, I just don't fancy grinding exhibition all day every day looking for energy.

I will say, customs makes delivery times very unpredictable. I get a decent amount of stuff sent to the US from the UK and sometimes it will arrive within a week or two and sometimes it can be over a month before it turns up.

I tend to get my City stuff when I'm back home, so I don't know how quick they are to ship but I wouldn't be surprised if it arrives soon-ish.

I've only had a quick look yet, so the only one I'm absolutely sure of right now is the Silicon Valley panel. I'd like to go to the WWE/Mattel panel (I don't care about the toys, but I expect The New Day will be worth it) but that's pretty soon after I arrive in San Diego so I'm not sure if I'll be able to make it.

Hall H's line-up on Saturday is looking good but I don't know that it's worth sleeping on the street for.

Are you going?

Looking forward to the next couple of weeks. My little brother is coming over for a visit and we're going to go to Comic-Con and see Flight of the Conchords live.

SPORT (SPA): Zabaleta to stay as Sagna backup. Angelino taking Kolarov's spot. Sane close. Nasri gotta lose weight. Yaya stay unless good offer. Aguero and Iheanacho the only strikers by Outron in MCFC

[–]ibpants 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Having watched just about every minute of Angelino's loan to NYCFC it's not so much the case that he proved he can't defend and more that he hasn't yet proved that he can.

If I'm being positive I can say that he really didn't make much in the way of defensive mistakes. If I'm being negative, he didn't do much of anything defensively.

Man City related books you recommend? by triazin in MCFC

[–]ibpants 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My favourite biography so far was Trautmann's Journey. It weaves in a bit of history alongside the fascinating story of an outstanding player.

I can't say I'm a big history buff, so if you are I'd guess the war stuff is all a bit superficial and probably would make the whole thing drag, but it humanised the war for me in a way that my schooling never did, so it really grabbed me.

[–]ibpants 17 points18 points  (0 children)

In kayfabe you could argue that until the split actually happens, Shane still has a hand in the booking of Raw. It makes sense that he'd use the last vestiges of his influence over the company's most popular show to promote his next venture (and potentially steal some viewers in the process).

Man City have extended their deal with Zhong An Holdings (Chinese Company) to further increase their commercial activity in the region by Mattazo in MCFC

[–]ibpants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I assume all this China stuff is probably some of the most important goings on for the future of Man City, but it's hard to form any kind of in depth opinions as someone that knows very little about Chinese business, or sporting culture, or what-have-you.
