To LNG and beyond: KSOE and DNV GL sign MOU to develop low and zero carbon shipping solutions

DNV GL and Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering (KSOE*) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to cooperate on the development of low and zero carbon ship technology. Ki-Sun Chung, Senior Executive Vice President and Won-Ho Joo, Director of Advanced Research Center from KSOE with Conn Fagan, Vice President and Sung-Ho Shin from DNV GL, attended the signing ceremony at the Gastech trade fair in Houston.

Improving operational efficiency (identified by 52% of respondents), decision making (42%) and cost efficiency (40%) are top priorities for further digitalization. DNV GL awards AIPs to DSME for new ethylene carrier cargo tank designs

At Gastech trade fair in Houston, DNV GL presented South Korea’s Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co. Ltd. (DSME) with Approval in Principle (AIPs) certificates for two new 98,000 cubic meter (cbm) ethylene carrier cargo tank designs. In a hand-over ceremony at the DSME booth, Odin Kwon, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of DSME, received the AIP certificates from Johan Petter Tutturen, DNV GL – Maritime’s Business Director Gas Carriers.

Hyundai Heavy Industries receives AIP for new LPG carrier design

DNV GL has awarded South Korean shipbuilder Hyundai Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. (HHI) with an Approval in Principle (AIP) for the design of a very large liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) carrier. Johan Petter Tutturen, DNV GL Business Director Gas Carriers, presented the AIP certificate for the 91,000 cubic meter (cbm) dual fuel vessel design to Hyung Kwan Kim, Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer in HHI, at the Gastech trade fair in Houston.
