THE STORY OF THIS VIDEO: It’s been two years since I captured this specific footage of my two friends in Seattle. I actually used these clips to tell a story of romance during my 2015 Yellow Boxes Tour and totally forgot about this footage until a few weeks ago when my video team laced this music video together. I was like “YES! THIS IS AWESOME!” I’ve always loved this song but never knew how to release it on youtube until TODAY. And now it’s out! THANK GOODNESS. WOOHOO.

THE STORY OF THIS SONG: I wrote and produced this track during a flight (I know, sounds crazy) from Nashville to Los Angeles three years ago. I had experienced a break up and was hurting SO bad that I had to write about it. This song came out on the plane. I didn’t record my vocals on the plane, but I did produce about 60% of the song on the flight. CRAZY RIGHT?

Have you ever experienced heartbreak so badly that you just look for another person to fill the gap? Thinking that someone else will be the answer for the pain? That’s what I did. But somewhere along the way it finally clicked: another person will never complete me. She may fill that for a season, but it’s never going to fully sustain. For me, real joy comes from learning to love yourself regardless if another person does or not. We have to take time to show ourselves care, grace and forgiveness. We will never be able to give love away fully if we don’t respect and care for ourselves. I’m a firm believer that you are who you attract. Healthy humans attract healthy humans. I’m excited that I’m not in the same place I was three years ago, but I am thankful that I was able to experience this. To those of you who are going through it now, I’ve been there and I’m sorry it hurts. It’s not easy right now, but I promise it gets better! And there is a reason for it. You’ve got this. I’m with you.
