Last week, I had brain surgery to correct some neurological issues. I will be absent from work duties for 7 more weeks. But will keep following some fun twitter feeds to pass the time! Send me some fun stuff!

I encounter microaggressions when I participate in public engagement / service. Its a tough space to be female and minority.

2019 is the International Year of the Periodic Table, which is a primo opportunity to communicate about the history of chemistry. AND YET this calendar from + only features white men, writing out the contributions of women + POCs. Unacceptable.

White colleagues, you don’t have to “urban’ify” the way you speak when conversing with me. Now, if that’s just the way you speak, cool, no worries. Otherwise, I’m not your “bruh”.

I've had different struggles in life but can sympathize with where these AI/AN students come from. I want to figure out how to create positive spaces so they can be successful and make it through college.

I’ve dabbled out of academia after my post-doc and definitely share my experience with those interested. But a space to curate these positions is essential.

My favorite part being a helper/instructor during the "Bring Your Own Data" was seeing novice users have their 'aha' moment on the command line interface. Lacking CLI skills makes a computational workflow tough. Getting users comfortable on CLI to then run the software, is a WIN!

Well this is awesome. Bacteria can coordinate their behavior by exchanging signals that reveal how many of them there are. But unexpectedly, VIRUSES can eavesdrop on those signals, to launch infections only when there are enough hosts around.
