That was ten years ago guys, and I still remember holding his wife in the waiting room as she wept and blamed HERSELF for his death.

He had insurance with a high deductible and copay. He couldn't afford thousands of dollars of tests. He died on the way to the hospital.

One man was 64, just shy of Medicare. He'd been having back pain. He thought it was from yard work. Turned out to be an abdominal aneursym.

Otherwise healthy people in a middle-class suburban hospital died because they waited too long to seek care out of fear of excessive costs.

As an ER registrar, I watched people die of curable/preventable illnesses (like appendicitis) because they were too afraid of an ER bill :(

I had to set up a gofundme to help me pay my medical bills. I had health care and I was still drowning in bills. This country is disgusting.

@BernieSanders I saw an older lady crying BC she needed $50 for her meds BC her insurance didn't cover it all and she didn't have the $$

CEOs of drug companies should not be making millions when customers are dying because they cannot afford their medication. #DebateWithBernie
