    It feels difficult to imagine that had Hollywood Foreign Press' rules for the Golden Globes allowed ROMA to compete in Best Picture, it wouldn't have won. Maybe I'm underestimating how much they just liked BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY, but that's what my gut tells me.

    BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY's Best Picture win over A STAR IS BORN seems like less of an indication to me of the former being a serious Best Picture contender than it does an indication that ROMA is the one to beat. And maybe it always was.

    I will say that, in a vacuum, divorced from the actual movie (which I know seems like an incredibly stupid thing to say) I think Christian Bale's work in VICE is impressive. It feels like the opposite of Malek's work in BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY, which is an outside-in performance.
