Republican opposition to re-opening the FBI background investigation doesn't make sense. Members of the U.S. Senate should exercise due diligence, not rush toward a vote for a lifetime appointment. The people we represent didn't send us here to shirk our duty.

In 1991, the FBI reopened a background investigation. Anita Hill and Clarence Thomas were interviewed. Every day more people came forward claiming firsthand knowledge of the events. It’s time for the FBI to do the same today. Why are Republicans resisting an investigation?

President Trump’s tweets on the death toll in Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria are deeply offensive. American citizens suffered tremendously due to the hurricane & delayed federal response. Refusing to accurately acknowledge the death toll is beneath the dignity of a president.
