I would love to know what happened to these people.
-
Me too. I hope they went on to live long and happy lives.

Haaretz had an article on the woman and the child in the photohttps://www.haaretz.com/world-news/europe/MAGAZINE-72-years-later-woman-from-iconic-holocaust-photo-identified-1.5464513 …

Thank you for sharing this.

American soldiers and holocaust survivors from this train were reunited by my high school history teacher Matthew Rozell. We were even on ABC world news for the occasion. Video: https://youtu.be/ZcZSpSXgiVg Check out his website:https://teachinghistorymatters.com

So powerful. My uncle was a photographer with the Allied Forces. Just a few years after returning, he killed himself. Have to believe there's a correlation there. Remembering one of the worst atrocities in history today.

I'm sorry to hear that about your uncle. I can imagine that photographing such atrocities would wear on a person emotionally, mentally & spiritually. Your comment reminded me of the Pulitzer prize-winning photog Kevin Carter who also committed suicide.

Thank you for the reminder. Just went online and saw "Starving Child and Vulture." So powerful (though that word seems inadequate). Maybe beyond what our privileged American minds can understand?

Another picture that has haunted me for years.
