Manage YouTube notifications
YouTube notifications let you know when there are new videos and updates from your favorite channels and other content.
Get updates from specific channels
You can make sure you don't miss any updates from your favorite subscriptions by turning on notifications for those channels.
If you unsubscribe and then re-subscribe to a channel, make sure to reset your channel notifications. Otherwise, you may not see new content from that channel in your email or YouTube feed.
Computer
- Go to the channel page.
- Subscribe to the channel.
- Under the channel art, click settings

- Check or uncheck the box next to Send me all notifications for this channel.
- Go to the channel page.
- Subscribe to the channel.
- Next to the Subscribe button, tap the notification icon
. - Tap OK.
Set notification preferences
You can control what kind of notifications you get from YouTube and how you receive them.
Computer- Sign in to your YouTube account.
- Go to your notifications settings.
- Select the notifications you would like to receive:
- Latest email updates: Choose if you want to get updates with tips and trending videos.
- Channel subscriptions: Choose if you want to get updates from channels you subscribe to.
- Notify me via: Use the drop-down menu to choose how you want to receive subscription notifications (mobile or email).
- In the top right, tap Menu

- Tap Settings
> Notifications.
- Choose what notifications you want to get:
- Recommended videos: Get notifications about recommendations based on what you watch.
- Subscription highlights: Get occasional notifications about updates across all of your subscriptions.
- Notify me via: Choose how you want to receive subscription notifications (e.g. mobile device or email).
- Activity on your channel: Get notifications about comments and other activity on your channel or videos.
- Replies to your comments: Get notifications about replies to your comments.
- In the top right, tap Menu

- Tap Settings
> Notifications.
- Tap Turn on and follow the on-screen prompts.
- Make sure that YouTube notifications are enabled in the iOS Settings app.
- Go to your device's Settings app.
- Scroll down and tap YouTube.
- Tap Notifications.
- Turn on Allow Notifications.
- In the YouTube app, coose what notifications you want to get:
- Recommended videos: Get notifications about recommendations based on what you watch.
- Subscription highlights: Get occasional notifications about updates across all of your subscriptions.
- Notify me via: Choose how you want to receive subscription notifications (e.g. mobile device or email).
- Activity on your channel: Get notifications about comments and other activity on your channel or videos.
- Replies to your comments: Get notifications about replies to your comments.
Turn mobile device notifications off
Android- In the top right, tap Menu
.
- Tap Settings
> Notifications.
- Uncheck the box next to Receive notifications.
- Open your device's Settings app.
- Tap Notifications > YouTube.
- Turn off Allow Notifications.
Check your notifications
If you use the YouTube app on your Android or iOS device, you can check the notifications you've received and turn off any channel notifications that you no longer want to see.
Android- Open the YouTube Android app.
- Go to the Account
tab.
- If you have new notifications, tap Notifications
.
- Open the YouTube iOS app.
- Go to the Account
tab.
- If you have new notifications, tap Notifications
.
