Because its kind of like how you would describe the โfeelโ of the temperature on a scale of zero to one hundred. Like 0โC isnโt that cold at all where 0โF is cold as fuck. Similarly 100โF is really hot (37.7โC) but 100โC is hotter than any weather could possibly reach on earth. So the only reason Fahrenheit makes sense is for the weather, not that Celsius is less useful, but Fahrenheit is more user friendly in that way.
The scale being 0 to 100 is arbitrary. Of what significance is 0ยฐF other than being โcold as fuckโ? You could just as much say 100ยฐC is โhot as fuckโ.
Yes itโs arbitrary and thatโs literally what I said. 100โC is not something you experience in weather, thatโs why the arbitrary Fahrenheit scale makes kinda more sense compared to the Celsius scale in non scientific settings. Because when you are standing outdoors the freezing and boiling point of water is not really relevant to how cold it feels to you. In scientific settings Celsius or Kelvin make far more sense which is why we use it in America.
And 110ยฐF is something you experience in weather, itโs not like 100ยฐF is a hard maximum and 0ยฐF is a hard minimum, theyโre arbitrary, exactly like a scale between -17ยฐC and 38ยฐC.
There is nothing wrong with Fahrenheit, but there is nothing that makes it good either. The thing that makes Celsius good is the fact that most people on earth use it and understand it. Thatโs a good enough reason to use it.
