Of the stops on our day-long bus tour, this was the longest and, possibly, most interesting. The castle has an interesting history all around, but its recent history is almost as fascinating as the ancient bit.

It seems that the owner got into some difficulty over gambling debts and had to sell. The castle is now owned by Madame Tussaud's, of wax figure fame, which itself is owned by an entertainment conglomerate. In all fairness, there are only a handful of wax figures placed in suitably educational spots.

It is well worth the afternoon, or perhaps a full day visit. Even though it was April, it was also a school holiday week and the place was teeming with families and kids. The abundant educational exhibits and live demonstrations provided plenty of things to see and do. I highly recommend a visit.

Come join us in celebrating the New Year @ APPLE EVE!
Warwick’s first ever New Year’s Eve community celebration on Sat., Dec. 31 starting at 8 p.m. This free event, co-sponsored by the Merchant’s Guild and the Village of Warwick, promises fun and frivolity for the whole family.
Railroad Ave. will be all lit up and rocking with a professional DJ, bouncy castles for the kids, a photo booth, and two heated 20 x 40 tents. Cider and donuts will be provided by Och’s and Penning’s Orchards and cake decorated with the sesquicentennial (150th year) logo will be provided by ShopRite of Warwick.
The highlight l of the evening is the Warwick Apple, a fiberglass “ball” to be raised at 8:30 p.m. for the benefit of youngsters, and then lowered to a traditional rambunctious countdown at midnight. Hats, horns, and buttons will be provided but all are invited, oldies style, to bring household noisemakers. Pots, pans, kid’s instruments, cowbells and homemade shakers will all be part of the fun. Applefest began in 1989 as a simple harvest celebration. Named one of the “Top 100 Events” in the country, over 30,000 visitors now attend the one-day event, traveling from neighboring states to experience the extraordinary variety of Warwick’s apples, culture, and entertainment!
Visit Darlene, our Communications Executive as she raises funds for our local non-profit charity "Warwick Foundation for Excellence In Learning." She will be selling Apple Cookies, Warwick T-Shirts and pecks of freshly picked apples on the corner of South Street and First Avenue.

Introducing Mollie Jamieson, our new Administrative Assistant/Receptionist.
Mollie, is a member of our afternoon team. She aids our staff in filing, proofing, computer work, mail, telephone inquires and customer service needs.
Mollie is a senior at Warwick Valley High School and plans on studying early childhood education after she graduates next spring. Her goal is to attend college down south in the Carolinas, which she loves.

Calvin came to WRG from Coughlin Insurance Services after spending 12 years as Commercial Lines Sales Executive. Prior to that, he served as an Underwriter Consultant and Field Marketing Specialist for Aetna, Kemper and CNA. He trained at the Aetna Property and Casualty Underwriting School and is a Licensed Broker.
When not handling client's needs, Calvin enjoys biking, tennis, landscaping and attending his son Jaden's baseball games with his wife of 18 years, Desiree.

Most of us in Warwick, woke up Sunday morning to the shock of a sudden and expected snow.
