That's a WIP for a transit mode in GNOME Maps, that includes arrival and departure times. It is basically the "Bus" icon, but it doesn't work that good (on me), so no much to screenshot, but you get the idea!

https://git.gnome.org/browse/gnome-maps/log/?h=wip/mlundblad/transit-routing

However GNOME Maps still has two no-go for using it.

1. It doesn't auto-suggest places as you type
2. It is extremely slow. Like extremely slower in comparison to OSM Web app

PS. On map a route I've done so many times! On foot!

Maps tell stories. As we’ve written on this blog before, they are an important and useful tool in simplifying complex information for the purpose of educating groups, persuading people, or understanding ideas. Maps can change popular opinion. They can illustrate never-before-seen trends in the world. Maps are visuals, and visuals are compelling. It has been …

1663 Dutch map of Australia (and Indonesia, Malaysia, India) is being restored
I absolutely love maps, especially old ones.
And the reality is, the "great" Captain Cook who we all learned in school "discovered" Australia was able to "magically" navigate the treacherous reefs along the coastline because he had a map.

The Dutch were here over 100 years before the British came and stuck a flag in it, but the Dutch thought it wasn't worth bothering with, and were rightly scared off by all the deadly snakes, spiders, crocodiles, drop bears and killer kangaroos. The British, true to form, saw all the extreme survival as a way to get rid of the social underclass criminals.

Of course that just led to Aussies being able to survive just about anything.
And here's the map that started it all...

A map of Australia created more than 350 years ago by a Dutch master cartographer is set to be restored by a team of expert paper conservators.

Technically, James Cook was the first European documented to have made landfall on the East coast. The Dutch often made landfall on the West coast as part of their trip around the cape on the way to the East Indies.

That Australian kids have been taught for years that James Cook "discovered" Australia is typical of the phrase "history is written by the victor." I was already aware of the fragility of the claim by the time we were taught about Dirk Hartog and any number of Dutch sailors who had landed and traded with the locals much earlier.

The main interest the British had in Australia was as a prison colony to house prisoners they were no longer able to sequester in the New World due to the rebels starting a war there, aided by the French and Spanish.

91 years ago: Shanghai Incident (30 May 1925) http://omniatlas.com/maps/eastasia/19250530/ #eastasia #maps #history #1925 #welovemaps
Feng Yuxiang's Guominjun and his Fengtian allies divided northern China between them, setting up former leader Duan Qirui as their puppet president of China. To the anger of the Chinese people, the foreign powers recognized this new regime over Sun Yatsen's populist Kuomintang in the south. Public resentment only increased with Sun Yatsen's death just a few months later. Matters came to a head when the foreign-run municipal police opened fire on ...

South Asia 1921: Greco-Turkish War
http://omniatlas.com/maps/southasia/19210827/ #southasia #1921 #maps #history
The most serious conflict in Turkey's war for independence was the Greco-Turkish War. In 1919 Greece had moved troops into western Anatolia to protect the sizeable local Greek population and assert its historical claim over the region. By August 1921 the Greeks were within 80km of Ankara, but proved unable to break through the Turkish defenses and were eventually forced to withdraw.
