Xbox One S Gets Release Date

The new Xbox One S is coming August 2nd and I'm kind of excited. I hated the design for the Xbox One. It was a completely half-baked, wannabe slick, home theater-y cliche. I think it could have been great if they had worked on the design for a while longer, but somehow that was the final product. I mean, the Xbox 360 was very cool. It's definitely dated now, but for the time, it was quite well done.

This new Xbox is a near-perfect design. Clean lines, super-duper modern. And the dot pattern is the kind of thing an entire brand can be built around.

On the technical side, the reduced power consumption is fantastic. To go back to the X360, yeah, its design was cool, but it required a generator to keep powered. The reduced size is great, seeing as the current Xbox One is freakin' yuge. And the uprated abilities make this an excellent choice for media consumption on otherwise useless 4K televisions.

Yes, the new new Xbox, Scorpio, is less than a year away, but 2 terabytes of storage, the new controller, better abilities, and loads of used games makes this an easy decision.
