At 26th August of 1996, the TV series "Malcolm & Eddie" premiered on UPN. "Malcolm & Eddie" is an American television sitcom that premiered August 26, 1996 on UPN, and ran for four seasons, airing its final episode on May 22, 2000. This series starred Malcolm-Jamal Warner and Eddie Griffin in the lead roles. The program was produced by Jeff Franklin Productions in association with TriStar Television in its first three seasons and by Columbia TriStar Television in its final season.

Bright and energetic comedian Eddie Griffin, at one time named "the king of hip-hop stand-ups," won over a large audience with his straight-talking comedy routines, but reached even more people as an actor, excelling especially in comedic roles, but proving more than capable of dramatic fare as well.

As star of "Malcolm & Eddie," one of UPN's most successful and long-running sitcoms, Griffin was able to try his hand at other facets of the entertainment industry, serving as writer, producer and director of select episodes, as well as co-writing the theme song with co-star and former "Cosby" kid Malcolm-Jamal Warner. The series also occasionally showcased Griffin's choreography, harkening back to his pre-comedy dance career.

Malcolm McGee (Malcolm-Jamal Warner) is a responsible and sensible 20-something who ends up sharing a Kansas City apartment and a business venture with relentlessly enthusiastic tow truck owner Eddie Sherman (Eddie Griffin). A fast talker with outlandish frenetic energy, Eddie's charming schemes always seems to get the two into hot water.

But no matter what the situation, these opposites always end up bailing each other out, even if they drive each other crazy. When the guys unexpectedly became recipients of a considerable sum of money, Malcolm and Eddie decided to buy not only the old Irish pub below their apartment, but the entire building, including Eddie's garage, as an investment. As new bar owners, the guys gave the place a facelift by turning it into a sports bar and renaming it McGee's.

There, they hang out with local regulars, including Tim (Jaime Cardriche), a gentle giant working as a male nurse, and Nicolette (Karen Malina White), the motor-mouth police academy cadet with a love-crazed obsession for Eddie. As Malcolm manages McGee's and Eddie tries to bolster his fledging one-man/one-truck towing operation into a fleet, success for these two could be as simple as staying out of trouble.

We can thank "Full House" creator Jeff Franklin his producing duties on Malcolm and Eddie, a show proving that opposites do attract. The two friends would wrestle almost everything from winning the lottery to mastering pool with the late Richard Pryor. At the time, comedy duos relating to a younger audience were few and far in between, but their chemistry was almost organic as they threw jokes and insane scenarios back and forth.

At 20th August of 1989, the TV series "Saved by the Bell" premiered on NBC. A retool of the Disney Channel series "Good Morning, Miss Bliss", the show follows a group of friends and their principal. The series starred Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Dustin Diamond, Lark Voorhies, Dennis Haskins, Tiffani-Amber Thiessen, Elizabeth Berkley, and Mario Lopez.

'Saved by the Bell' is a series that really doesn't need an introduction, but seeing as how convention demands one, here's a quick rundown anyway. It began life as a Disney Channel original series called 'Good Morning, Miss Bliss', a vehicle for Hayley Mills, the star of a number of Disney's most successful movies of the 1960s.

The series was cancelled fairly quickly, and producer Peter Engel and company retooled the concept, transplanted some of the more popular characters from Indiana to Los Angeles, and moved shop to NBC Saturday mornings. The result, 'Saved by the Bell', was a phenomenon, running for several successful years and inspiring a slew of spin-offs and TV movies.

The series stars Mark-Paul Gosselaar as Zack Morris, an overly-moussed slacker who always keeps an eye out for a quick buck and a cute girl, often ensnaring his geeky best pal Screech Powers (Dustin Diamond) in his hee-sterically zany schemes. The object of Zack's affection is Kelly Kapowski (Tiffani Thiessen, back when she still had the 'dash-Amber' appended to her first name), an indescribably popular and cute-to-boot cheerleader.

Zack dukes it out for Kelly's heart with his rival A.C. Slater (Mario Lopez), an athletic Army brat recently settling into Bayside High. Rounding out their group of friends is the tall, studious Jessie Spano (Elizabeth Berkley; Showgirls) and the wealthy, mall-crazed Lisa Turtle (Lark Voorhies), the reluctant apple of Screech's eye. Also frequently embroiled in their wacky misadventures is Principal Belding (Dennis Haskins).

During it hiatus on Saturday Mornings, 'Saved By The Bell' was NBC's venture into leaving the world of Saturday Mornings cartoons behind which paid off brilliantly. At the time this show aired, it had stiff competition going against a rabbit (Bugs Bunny), a dog (Scooby-Doo), a cat (Garfield), and many others ,and guess what in its first three seasons, the show dethroned the animated competition right out of the block to the top of the Nielsens.

The show was a launching pad for several of it's stars here and helped start the successful careers of Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Lark Voorhies, Tiffani-Amber Thiessen, Elizabeth Berkley and also Leah Remini and Bridgette Wilson in helping them go into more mature and prominent roles. As for actors Mario Lopez and Dustin Diamond, they have gone on into other prominent careers as well including Diamond, who is nowadays a successful stand-up comedian and Lopez into a successful TV talk show host.

As for this cast to get together again for a reunion of this series, this won't be expected anytime soon. But after the series left the airwaves in 1993, NBC went too far with two spin-offs of the series which were big failures...."Saved By The Bell: The New Class", and "Saved By The Bell: The College Years", and a huge crank out of made for TV movies under the same title. 'Saved By The Bell' had some kooky storylines, and many times it had bad acting, (not by the stars of the show) but it was a definition of the late 80's and early 90's. And isn't that all we require ?
