Lee B: Well, the earths orbit is elliptical, it moves further away and closer again throughout the year by a distance of about 3.5 million miles.
Even so, what are you saying the distance is perfect for, life to exist? life as we know it? So, you're saying that a god must exist because the earth is in a position that makes it capable of sustaining life?
OK, and if it wasn't in that position, then what would you say? Nothing, because you wouldn't be here. If life exists, then conditions must exist that make life possible, it could not be any other way, pointing out how suitable a place is for life is meaningless, if there's life on a planet, the planet has to be capable of sustaining life, how could it be any other way? The life in question would have evolved and adapted to the conditions on said planet making it perfectly suited to living on said planet.
If this planet wasn't in any way suited to life and yet, somehow, life still existed, that could be evidence for a god, but, as it stands, this planet is in a suitable position for life to exist naturally without supernatural intervention.
There are billions upon billions of suns in the universe with billions of planets orbiting them, how many of those billions upon billions of planets are in a suitable position, do you know? I don't know, but the answer is probably quite a lot.
Your argument stems from the assumption that you and every other human are meant to exists, your argument only makes sense if you assume that humans are supposed to be here, just as we are. In other words, your argument doesn't prove there is a god, it starts by assuming there is a god that wants us here just as we are.

Yes, there could be "something".
I think, maybe, I'm critical of arguments that claim to prove there is a god of some kind because I am genuinely interested in the truth, I wouldn't want to realize one day that my beliefs are based on faulty reasoning, lies.
If the truth turned out to be some kind of intelligent agent, so be it. I'm not against the possibility, I'm genuinely interested in the truth.
Every argument I've heard that claims to be "proof" a god exists is fallacious, they start with assumptions, fallacies and faulty reasoning, some people seem to be reluctant to just say that they don't know, as if "not knowing" is a crime, some religious beliefs actually do say it's a crime not to believe. Being critical of fallacious arguments, faulty reasoning and unfounded beliefs doesn't mean my mind is closed to possibilities.
