An exhaustive analysis of millions of Github pull requests found that women's contributions were accepted more often than men's. The merge rate of women's pull requests were 78.6% while men's were only 74.4%. 25% of women had almost 100% of their pull requests accepted while only 13.5% of men achieved the perfect merge rate.

It should be noted that Github does not reveal gender information for its users. The project relied upon linking the Github account email address to a corresponding Google+ account in order to determine gender. While this seems shady, it's actually permissible according to the Google terms of service. Of the 4M+ Github accounts with viewable email addresses, 1.4M (35.3%) were successfully matched to Google+ profiles with publicly-accessible gender information.
