...La présence d'Alibaba au capital de #MariaDB Corporation n'a rien d'un hasard. Dans sa stratégie orientée cloud, MariaDB s'est rapprochée de l'activité cloud du géant chinois de l'e-commerce (Alibaba Cloud). Sa base de données peut s'y déployer dans une approche de cloud hybride. Mais MariaDB est également supportée par les plateformes de Microsoft Azure et d'Amazon Web Services (AWS), par le biais du service Azure Database for MariaDB pour le premier et via Amazon RDS pour le second. MariaDB a aussi noué un partenariat avec IBM en vue d'optimiser sa base de données pour les serveurs Power System du groupe américain...
...Reste que cet état d'esprit pourrait être remis en cause. Intervenu en août 2016, le changement de licence de MaxScale (à l'occasion de la sortie de sa version 2), de GPL à BSL (Business Source Licence) a été mal vécu par la communauté. Cette licence limite l'usage du proxy à trois serveurs de bases de données. Au-delà, l'utilisateur doit passer à l'offre payante. Après un délai de trois ans, BSL rebasculera en GPL...

Bad case scenario happened and a #MariaDB database server crashed without being able to recover after a start.
